There seem to be a few of us ex-mo's in the Nexus and it is good to share the particular intricacies of extracting oneself from Mormonism.

I don't know if anyone reads posts on this group anymore, but just in case, I still like to say something here once in a while.
I saw the Mormon church (as well as all others) were false about 22 years ago, but didn't find a group on the net to talk to like minded people until about 8 years ago. That was when I found LifeAfterMormonism.
I enjoyed that site for about 3 years, however I finally became so annoyed with the postings of some idiots there, that I quit and came here to Atheist Nexus. I've been here 5.5 years now.
Sadly, LifeAfterMormonism allowed people that still believed in other religions to participate, and there were more people that had other crazy beliefs than here on Atheist Nexus.
I know I get annoyed too easily, but that's how I am, and it doesn't appear that I'm going to change.
I would still love to talk to ex-Mormons, but it appears there aren't any here that want to converse.
There is an ex-Mormon Facebook site that I participated in for a while, but finally quit because of privacy concerns.
I miss the good parts of LifeAfterMormonism, and am a little sad that it had to close.
The site LifeAfterMormonism is closing near the end of July: LifeAfterMormonism being sunsetted end of July 2017
Church released photo of Joe's magic rock:
I just listened to a pod-cast where an ex-mormon researcher talked about all religions, but what caught my attention most was that the LDS church is the worst religion as far as giving to charity to help people's physical needs. While the best religion gives 30%, the LDS church only gives 0.7%.
Too familiar Patricia. Couldn't watch all of it. Too much stupidity.
Patricia, it's good to see some of Joseph Smith's followers being charged for having sex with children.
This past semester I went to the YSA activities pretty actively. My family moved to Utah last year and left me in Georgia to finish school. Even though I am not at all a fan of the church or the leaders, I still have friends in it. The YSAs noticed that I don't go to church anymore, but I don't think any of them know that I'm active in atheist communities. It's a strange dilemma. I don't think I should have to give up friends just because I don't believe in the religion anymore, but I'm pretty sure everyone would be uncomfortable if I was open with them. I was the president of the SSA chapter at Georgia Southern the spring semester. I was comfortably an out atheist when spoke with school officials and campus ministers, but I'm still terrified of telling the Mormons I've been friends with for years. Has anyone experienced something like this?
If you haven't already read the book "God Is Not Great" here is an excerpt speaking specifically about Mormons. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9UzbucqHCc
Debra, yes, Stuart Matis was my brother.
