Lentil chili sounds good. I was thinking about making a batch of chili.
However, tonight it's chicken with leftover rice and B sprouts.
I didn't mention that when I returned from China, I had moths flitting about my cupboard. I tracked down the source to a bag of black beans. Rather than throw them out, I planted a hand full in a shallow container, and, voila!, they sprouted. So, I've been eating bean sprouts lately. Rather flavorless, but, hopefully, good for me. At least they didn't make me sick.

Randy, I don't mind at all!  I need some inspiration.

I think I'll make some lentil chili and cornbread, soon.

If you all don't mind:

Yesterday, while listening to the radio (Purdue's classical music station), I heard a "Chinese" piece. It reminded me that I should fix a stir-fry with rice and noodles dish--sort of Chinese. After all, I did buy a bag of rice when I returned. I tried to spice it up, but failed to duplicate what the Chinese use. Still, not bad.

I agree with all here, going back to basics and eating comfort foods, is a treat and worth doing.

Sometimes I have gardenburgers prepared the way other people do regular hamburgers.  Since I haven't eaten meat in about 40 years, I don't miss it, but sometimes the fixin's call me.  A gardenburger with or without cheese, and with onion, relish, mustard, ketchup, can take me back and give me a warm happy feeling.

Randy, your "plain good ol' home-style food" sounds like a meal fit for a king and his queen.

Sounds like a tasty treat.

Sometimes, one has to go back to basics. Nothing fancy. Just plain good ol' home-style food. So I grilled a pork burger with French fries and opened a can of pork'n beans. Spinach salad, too (and fruit).
I even topped it off with a slice of pecan pie I made earlier in the day!
Every now and then, a person has to treat one's self.

Doing Thanksgiving alone at home today, but looking forward to the preparation. Guess just thinking about the traditional dishes brings back fond memories of Thanksgivings at grandparents', parents', cousins', sisters', and my own homes. This one make 75 (not that I remember the first few).

The only thing I pre-made was persimmon pudding. Oh, I did finally find a Cornish game hen at Aldi yesterday, but it's too late. My ham is thawed and ready to go into the oven. I did buy the game hen, however, for a later date.

Carl, when I ate kale from the grocery store, it was strong, unpleasant to the taste buds and the tongue.

Spud, it is extremely easy to grow, comes in many different shapes and sizes. There are more varieties now with hybridization. The one I grew this year and find it delightful is  Lacinato Kale. It is a beautiful plant, one that could easily fit into an ornamental garden of flowers.

I've never had kale (that I know of.)  I'm certainly not against eating it.  Just haven't had the opportunity.
