Randy that cup is halway between teacup and coffee mug i  size.  For me, a mug is too much.  Always gets cold before I finsh.  Although I do like cold coffee too.  Somewhere I read,  people are psychologically affected by the color of their coffee cup and perceive a better flavor if the cup,is white.  Who knows?

My coffee is black.  No cream, no sugar.  Our well water goes through  a purifier, which makes for better taste, too.  I use medium roast.  No beans from Indonesia / Sumatra where atheists and gays undergo severe persecution.  I used to like Sumatra coffee.

You have a great meal planned.  And pecans - my favorite nut.

I just roasted pumpkin and swuash, purred it, and portioned into ziplock bags for freezer.  One bag will be for Thanksgiving pie.

I will make a noodle casserole with mushrooms, roasted garlic, and cauliflower.  And whole wheat molasses dinner rolls.  And green bean cassarole.

In friday, my friend from Oregon will stay overnight.  For him, cabbage rolls.

Yes, Daniel, squirrels love walnuts! You'll have to gather some more. Unfortunately, they don't dry out very well when you have to cove the bucket.

I have pecans sitting in cookie trays on my wood stove (furnace) to dry both the hulls and fruit. No squirrels in my basement!

Having a birthday party for my 3 yr old grandson tonight at my house. His mother (my daughter) is too busy (and stressed) to do it, so I volunteered. Pork ribs, now marinating, sweet potatoes with apples, and corn (off my ears), are on the menu. Cake, of course! Wish me luck!

Randy, sounds like a good process to me. Thanks for the information.

Ya just can't confine a nut who wants out!

The squirrels here love nuts of all kinds.  Once in a while I have to pull up a black walnut tree sprout, due to them planting the seed and forgetting it.

Most of my bucket of walnuts has vanished!  Some of the escaping walnuts left pieces of hull down the driveway.  Who knew I would need a cover for the container?

Interesting article (for me, anyway) about how to make apple slices taste better using salt.  Do other people do that?  I add just a touch to home made apple sauce.  I do salt tomato slices.

Goodness sakes, Joan! I would never use either of these methods to hull black walnuts. I can't imagine spending (wasting) time doing this. It's bad enough to crack them open to extract the nuts.

No, I just spread them out on a piece of metal roofing and leave to dry in the sun for a couple of weeks or more. The hulls will eventually dry and fall off when I walked over them.

Thanks, anyway.

Another way to harvest black walnuts. He warned not to let the water used to wash the nuts will kill every living thing, so be careful where you do the washing.
