The uncanny valley refers to images which are just like human enough to be easily recognizable and just unlike human enough to be deeply disturbing.I think this qualifies.

Less plausible, hence less uncanny

Ruth, I don't see any "uncanny valley". Your description intrigue me and I hope everyone else received them. It may be my computer. 

Clarification for those who are unfamiliar with the term "uncanny valley".
