This sounds like a wonderful place to be, people who actually think and dream about the future :)

Oh yes, that was intended to be quite sarcastic. Crimes have been committed by people in power against people I know over data.

You're kidding, right, Sarah? If history has taught us anything, it teaches that if something is of value or perceived to be of value, it can and will be fought over. This has been true of land, religion, ideology, and oil, among too many other things. Data may be somewhat less PHYSICAL, but it is no less substantial, and the very gearing that many nations including the US are doing right now to prepare for cyber-warfare demonstrates that the potential for conflict over data is already with us.

Has anyone read about perflourocarbons as a temporary blood substitute? I hope we can someday come up with something that works in a similar way that is more permanent...,

I'm a transhumanist and basically the main reason i'm doing my electrical engineering degree is to eventually go into human cybernetics, i joke it's my career goal to have people replacing perfectly good organic limbs with machine ones because they will just be better in everyway. For people who haven't seen it is a really interesting blog/magazine site.
