Liberals' Quest to 'Rehabilitate' Christians

I'd been lucky not to know of until today.  I'd been lucky not to know of this douchebag Matt Barber until today.  Apparently this guy is the vice president of a group calling themselves the "Liberty Counsel".  Huh.

Well, at least he's creative with the insults.  To quote:

The homofascist rainbow-shirts are at it again. They’ve unsheathed, once more, their anti-Christian long knives.

He then goes on to "support" his claim of the homofascist regime's assault on Christianity by citing a complaint against a bakery in Oregon that refused a request for a wedding cake for a same-sex couple.  Wow.  I mean, cake, that's...  That's serious business.  Can't even have some good ol' fashioned gay-bashing with your cupcakes these days, sheesh.

Get the not-so-thinly-veiled threat? Christians have a right to own a “successful business” in Oregon, so long as they don’t, well, be Christian – so long as they shelve their faith and submit to our ever-”progressive” government’s anti-Christian demands. “The goal is never to shut down a business,” but either you abandon the Judeo-Christian sexual ethic and dutifully observe postmodern sexual relativism, or government will shut you down in a Sodom and Gomorrah minute.

Brad, Rachel, Laurel and the rest of you left-wing bullies need to get this straight (so to speak): The godless left has been trying to “rehabilitate” Christians for over 2,000 years. We haven’t caved yet. What makes you think we will now? Those of us who wish to remain obedient to God will not – indeed, cannot – accommodate you and play along with your sin-centric “gay marriage” delusion.

Ain’t gonna happen.

Look, you have every right to dress up in two wedding gowns or two tuxedos, get pretend “married” and play house to your hearts’ content. You do not have the right, however, to force others to abandon their sincerely held religious beliefs, thousands of years of history and the immutable reality of human biology to engage your little fantasy. No amount of hand-wringing, gnashing of teeth, suing Christians or filing charges against those of us who live in marriage reality will make us recognize your silly so-called “marriage equality.”

OMG it's the end of the world!  Now Christians aren't even allowed to use their privileged majority status to marginalize others without criticism???  Oppresshun, oppresshun!

Also, he has no idea what he's talking about, biology-wise.  Immutable reality of human biology is that... uh, I don't think there is one.  Mutation's kinda important in evolution. ;p

Yet another example of Christians wrapping their bigotry up in velvet robes of religious sanctimony, and then demanding that we go out of our way to make them comfortable with their bigotry.

Sorry, I'm not buying in.  Bigotry is bigotry, whether it is wrapped in religious sanctimony or not, just like putting lipstick on a pig doesn't make it any less a pig, and I'm not about to go out of my way to accommodate it.   So the whiny little bastard can go off in his corner and pout like a little kid all he wants, I don't care.  I have no moral obligation to him.

I'm with Richard Dawkins - I'm done giving religion any deference not required of me by law.  None at all.

Riiiiiight. "We should be able to put up a 'No Jews, gays, or dogs allowed' sign, because Jesus."

The graphic's allusion to a voracious conservative Christian Pac-Man is great! NOM NOM NOM....

(The National Organization for Marriage, a group with deep Mormon and Catholic ties and ostensibly focused on opposing equal marriage, would rather see LGBT people change or disappear entirely.)

Whoa!  "Homo-fascists?!?"  Someone likes hyperbole a bit, don't they?

Actually, if the christians are getting all butt-hurt because they think their beliefs are being marginalized, I can understand ... Because THEY ARE!  Because others are ignoring their rants against the GLBT community and calling them on their bigotry, even as Scott Bidstrup did a bit ago.  Further, at some level the christers have to know that they're losing this fight, even as their numbers are dwindling while those of the "nones" are growing.

As a result, I think you have a bunch of scared little grown-up kids out there, scared because their influence is waning and there is little to nothing they can do about it.  Ordinarily, I might try to work up some sympathy for 'em ... but why should I be sympathetic toward assholes?

JoeMyGod often reports on this ilk of bigots.  There are others in the pantheon.  I had to quit reading JoeMyGod because it got to be too much for me.  Also the comments, like comments on most sites, are annoying.

The whole professional homophobe category should be designated with a pair of initials after their names, sort of like MBA or PhD. I propose CSH which could stand for Christian Supplier of Hate, Catholic Super Homophobe, of Closeted Selfhating Homosexual.
