Welcome to Gay / LGBTQI Atheists & friends!

I will be taking a reduced role at Atheist Nexus as of Oct 1, 2017. I will not be moderating this group after that time, and I will be re-zeroing most of my groups and comments.

That will leave this group without a moderator. Since this group was started by a member who hasn't visited Nexus for many years, it is not possible to select or designate a moderator. Instead, I will send notification to Br. Richard that the group will be without a moderator. It will then be up to him to decide how to proceed.

Since this is a popular group, I recommend that a member start up a new group for quotations, so that the members can continue adding and reading their favorite quotes.

Thanks and happy reading!

There is also the "us/them" dichotomy, and as barriers break down and more people are included in "us", it's getting harder to pick a "them" to persecute.  That persecution is necessary to find someone to blame failures and evils of the world on.  Scapegoats are not hated because they are goats, but because the bad characteristics of the majority are projected onto them.

I should have provided a little more info.  I was not asking the question.  It is the title of an article in the Washington Post. The question (title) is the link to the article.  Although, Dom, I like your response to the question.

Why do Americans hate Atheists?

Because while many Americans claim to believe in a god and an after-life, they are hysterical, like anyone else, when a loved one dies.

The reason for this, is that they have doubts about those beliefs, although they wish them to be true.  The church, popes, ministers, gurus or whatever, are there to reinforce the idea that they will live forever with their dead relatives.

On the other hand, atheists remind them of their doubts.  Not only are their doubts hard to face, but they look at atheists as a group of people who laugh at these doubts and embrace them as truth.

They see us as a threat to those beliefs.  Somehow, we will reinforce their doubts, as well as the possibility of bringing down the rath and disfavor of a god, for the very nerve to question such lunacy.

We are what they fear within themselves.  We have lost salvation, and they do not want to stand too close.  We are the ones that might influence their children, in a way that will prevent them from spending eternity together.

Of course it doesn't make sense, but look who we are talking about!

Possibly the dumbest headline I've seen in ages:

"Puerto Rico abuzz over explicit pictures of man"

Apparently, an Island version of Anthony Weiner's escapade. He claims not to remember 'One picture depicts a nude torso...The other pictures, taken from behind, show a nude man on his hands and knees.

How do you not remember getting naked & on your hands and knees and getting your picture taken. Oh, he " said he has taken pictures of himself with a cell phone as he continues to lose weight".

That explains it.

(I will double post to news. I just put it here because, it's in the LGBT RRS.)

I know - it was that intelligent look in his eyes that drew you in. He's probably a Democrat, I can tell.
