Bloody grrr. UNLESS YOU ARE A MAGICAL ELF WISHING DOESN'T WORK!!!! Why are churches allowed to even comment on anything? They want to get involved with science and ethics then do things like this!! Grrr.

Nice work spreading the news Sentient. Turing is on this a great list:

Okay so upon further research apparently the apple part of the story is not 100% confirmable. But I like it.

Did you guys know the last sentence?

16. Alan Turing (1912-54), British scientist, cryptanalyst, logician, mathematician. highly influential in the development of computer science, providing a formalization of the concept of the algorithm and computation with the Turing machine, which played a significant role in the creation of the modern computer. He devised a number of techniques for interpreting German ciphers in World War II, and broke the Enigma machine’s code, saving tens of thousands of lives in the process. Turing’s homosexuality resulted in a criminal prosecution in 1952-homosexual acts were illegal in the United Kingdom at the time. He was chemically castrated as an alternative to prison. He is said to have committed suicide by eating cyanide in an apple. In 2009, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown made an official public apology on behalf of the British government for the way in which Turing was mistreated after the war, a left-handed “thank you” for all the good work he had done for his country. The partially bitten apple on Steve Jobs’ computers is a silent tribute to his advances in computer science.

@ Sentient Biped:  Clever isn' the?  His phone "accidentally" rings with the ringtone "Kill That Faggot".  It's a song by the rapper Styles P on an album called Ghost in the Shell.

His wikipedia page makes no mention of the song - perhaps it's just as well he doesn't have publicity.

I taught at a school where this black ghetto trash/white trailer trash mentality was the norm.  You fought for everything and if someone looked at you in what you considered the wrong way, it was grounds for fighting.  Many of the kids were from a low socio-economic background, and some were middle class, but adopted the attitude.  Maybe it was to survive in a school with a violent population.

We had parents who would sneak into the school, to continue a fight between their child and another, which started in the hood.

We would have students who admitted to inappropriate or even criminal behavior, and the parent would be angry that we were picking on their child.

If you had two students and one got hurt while your back was turned, the defense of the other was that you didn't see me hit him or her.

Schools tolerate the term "that's gay" meaning lame or not cool, and some adults buy into it, so that they appear cool to the kids.  Some teachers do not want to defend gay kids or reprimand those who make anti-gay comments, afraid that they will be labeled as gay.

But the biggest crime is to excuse this young man and others like him, in the name of culture.  Culture doesn't feel pain, suffering, or experience death.  Culture should never justify bad behavior.

Cheers guys!  The original one was too horrid to ignore; dripping with unspoken assumptions about the threat to normalcy!

I've done a more correct version.
