I watched twice. My leg is now a bloody stump. They did a great makeup job on her. Cover head with towel before viewing. Maggie without makeup.
Perhaps that explains the impulse to gnaw my own leg off when Gallagher was talking...
Maybe that WAS Vogon poetry!
Now I can't get the image of Maggie Gallagher as a Vogon out of my head. "Resistance is useless!" In one breath she says that the purpose of marriage is procreation and then she says that sterile couples still have the right to marry because marriage should be between a man and a woman. Simply stunning.
I'd hate to hear any of her poetry.
Hey Sentient Biped -- thanks for the video on the Neanderthal Opposing Marriage -- it's really sad there are people like that out there. I will have to take a look at that book you are recommending.
Worth a read. Really - how many books have I said that here? Straight: The Surprisingly Short History of Heterosexuality available on the usual Amazon / Kindle sites. here, but if you do buy it, will you go through the Nexus Amazon button? If others read this book, I would love to start a discussion thread. One minor disagreement: the author claims there were no "homosexuals" or "heterosexuals" until the terms were invented in the 19th century. That's like saying there was no pancreatic cancer until the term was invented, or no molecules until the term was invented. Plus, there were well known same-gender-loving and different-gender-loving people throughout history. But there are valid points, and it is a thoughtful book that treads ground that most people are unaware of.
Interview with Maggie Gallager, the Vogon troll founder of Neanderthals Opposing Marriage (NOM). Not safe for sanity. What WAS it her life that she's so obsessed with antigay hatred? Is she the result of someone who missed out on a gay best friend?
George, thank you for embedding that video. It was quite moving and well spoken.
