You're right, Daniel, friends and partners come in all shapes and colours. The only people that truly disgust me are immoral people, but that's perhaps a sign of growing older.

I'm not sure which is worse:  people like Mr. Root harboring those pathetic thoughts in the first place, or believing it's OK to say them publicly.  Either way, he's contributing to what's wrong with this world...bigly.

Bertold, I enjoy the sight of a good-looking woman as much as the next guy.  As it comes to news, though, as I said, I expect CONTENT and COMPETENCE.

Side note: for being 75, Lesley Stahl looks pretty damned good from where I sit, though that's a total non-sequitur, really.

Aw, Loren, you don't like T & A???

Don't watch Megyn Kelly, have never watched Megyn Kelly, and seriously doubt I will ever have any interest in watching Megyn Kelly in the future.  As it comes to women reporters I respect, Lesley Stahl, Elizabeth Palmer, Christiane Amanpour, and Holly Williams go to the head of the class, as well as several others whose work I've seen on CBS.

These women deliver SUBSTANCE, and as it comes to news reporting, that is my primary interest.

What scares me is the number of people who believe this kind of shit. (Obama's still after your guns, you know.)

Who is this Root character? I have not heard his name before, as far as I know. A little search and this is what I found:

"Gay, By Kyle Mantyla | July 18, 2017 2:37 pm

"On his radio program yesterday, right-wing commentatorconspiracy theorist and DonaldTrumpobsessed sycophant Wayne Allyn Root rejoiced over the poor ratings that Megyn Kelly has received since leaving Fox News for NBC, attributing the results to the fact that liberal men won’t watch her show because they are all gay.

“She’s got great legs,” he said. “She’s a hot babe and no one gives a crap about her. You know why? Because a hot babe on Fox News, Republican men loved her; take her off Fox News, now the whole world knows what she is. Republican men like me, I wouldn’t tune in. Screw Megyn Kelly.”

“I hope she dies,” Root said, before quickly adding that he meant that he hopes “her ratings plummet and her career dies” because “she tried to screw over our man, Donald Trump.”

“Outside of Fox News, you have no support,” he continued. “You had the hottest show in the country, my friend, and what did you do? You spit in our face. Now you’re done. All those Republican men who appreciate beautiful women, we don’t like you anymore, we’re never going to give you the time of day, Megyn Kelly. Who’s left? Liberal women won’t like you because you’re coming from Fox News and liberal men, well, they’re all gay or they don’t appreciate pretty women.”

Scum keeps slithering out of the rocks where they hid like venomous snakes waiting for opportunity to strike.

BB,  that's a weird guy.

On top of the obvious reasons to fit him to a straight jacket, I always wonder why blonde hair  is the default  for sexy or beautiful.  I mean, a person can be blonde and be alluring and gorgeous,  but the same is true for raven black, or brown, or red.  Then again, I know Im abnormal.  I think the same way about skin color, or eyes, and always did have a taste for what others consider exotic.

Right-Winger: Megyn Kelly’s Ratings Stink Because Liberal Men Are “All Gay”

Patheos

“Real men like beautiful women,” Root said. “Liberal men? You could walk into a room and they wouldn’t even notice. They’re too busy worrying about the poor. They don’t care about beautiful legs, they don’t care about your beautiful face and your blonde hair and your tight skirt. They don’t care!”

. . . He also compared criticism of Trump to the crucifixion of Jesus… which I think says more about his religion than liberals.

Tom, as far as gratitude, it's not the same as servitude.  I am eternally grateful for my parents' love and nurturing, their example of hard work and dedication, and both of their good, sweet nature, even though I took a path that they could not comprehend, let alone approve of.  They gave me the resources and resilience to make my own life, even though I had to do the rest entirely on my own.  I did my best to repay them, as I could and as they allowed, with care and resources at the end of their lives.  There are many other things that people have done that I am grateful for.  That doesn't mean I genuflect to those people.  Only that I know that to the extent that we see the clouds, we have the shoulders of giants, or many short people standing on each others shoulders, to thank for our vision.  Our responsibility is to pay it forward, and certainly not to scorn, disapprove, ridicule, put off, or exclude, our elders.
