French far-right activist man commits suicide at Notre Dame cathedral to protest against marriage equality.

I thought suicide was a mortal sin?

All I can think is, he's saying "I'll show them!"

A beautiful smack in the gob for the offensive French Catholics.  They have for years had the opinion that France had to cater to their every whim.  As a Limey I don't have a very high opinion of the Froggies but with this move they have jumped a long way up in my opinion. It appears that the European Common Market has for the first time in history made a positive move but of course by accident.

England has only ever been a half way participant it the EEC folly and if they would drop out it would almost be a good moove to go home, but of course I could never afford to live there.  Oh well I guess I am stuck in the Bible Belt.  Could be worse.

It's a breath of fresh air that the NYC Cops have decided that that was a hate crime.  With the reports they had no other opton.

He sounds interesting! I almost want to protect him from the superficiality of American gay culture.

The Prince sounds like a really cool guy.  I wouldn't mind going out on the town with him.

From Windy City Times, "Gay Indian Prince Heads for Chicago"

I imagine that if he wanted, Prince Manvendra Singh Gohil could just be a royal playboy.  Instead, he's an activist.  Cool!

Bio on wiki.

VeganTiger, it shows we are barely at the beginning of equal treatment for intersex people.  It will take more lawsuits and more activism to make it happen.

Glad you are moving on your way to wholeness.  Sorry you have been put through the grief.

People need to learn, we can't force everyone into little boxes of this and that, we need to let people be who they are.

Happiness is the only good. The time to be happy is now. The place to be happy is here. The way to be happy is to make others so.

Thank you Sentient Biped for sharing the ABC article about the intersex child being operated on. The same thing happened to me; born both genders; operated on and raised as a girl when I identified as male since the age of 4. I'm 47 now and just had the 1st of 3 stage phalloplasty to correct my genitals. I'm finally feeling like a whole man but also feel that was a long time to waste trying to reclaim my identity. If I could get retribution from the doctors that mutilated me I would. But all I can do now is be an example and educate people on the subject. Thanks man! :-)

Looks like Brazil is well on it's way to marriage equality....  BBC News.

Interesting info in the article - stating Brazil is the world's most populous Catholic country, and has 60,000 same sex couples.

Adoptive parents sue over their child's gender reassignment surgery.

On various news sites, this is ABC.

I'm not crazy about suing medical providers, especially since this surgery may be considered a standard of care.  I think it's wrongly a standard of care, and should be ended.  Maybe the lawsuit will create a "speed bump" in the decision process, or change minds, and avoid tragedy for another child.

The fact is, the child was intersex.  That was (and is) their gender.

This surgery was not gender assignment, it was gender reassignment, and ignores that children grow into their identity which might not be what the surgeon chose.

I'm glad the story is in the news.  It might help with awareness.

Now it's Minnesota....  First they overturn their anti-equality amendment, now they  pass marriage equality.  Cool!
