Carl, that's pathetic! I wonder why they chose "Lesbian" and not "gay" or "atheist".
Another case of religious nut jobs inisting that everyone must conform to their book of loony tunes. I think I would put that hotel in the same box as Chick-fil a and Hobby Lobby. They would like to do here the same as Islam did to the Arab world where it is illegal to possess a functioning mind.
So.....in my travels around the country, I sometimes use public computers in hotels (if available and free) to catch up on emails, such as those from Atheist/Nexus, alerting me to new posts in my groups.
Last week I was in Seattle at an airport hotel checking my email. I had an email alerting me to a new post in this group. However, when I clicked on the link, a pop-up message appeared on the computer screen stating that access to this webpage was denied because the filter was banning a certain word: "lesbian."
Can you just imagine the jaw-dropping, face-palm moment I experienced? I was stunned!
The pop-up screen allowed me to make a comment about the word, if I wanted, to be forwarded to management for further review, so I wrote, "This is ignorant and overly-controlling. Lesbian is not a dirty word."
I've never before experienced this on a public computer. I guess now I know first hand how it must be to use the internet in China.
I suppose this means half of the Americans you run in to are bigots. Split roughly 40/40 on whether DOMA should be upheld and whether the US govt should recognize same sex marriage.
The disappointment in Illinois - what happened? Keep trying, keep trying. As in other LGBT issues, the Supreme Court's imminent ruling will have a role. Why has no one yet published a photo of Scalia in bed with Thomas? That would be so helpful.
Sorry about the "auto-on video" - it will disappear as the comment wall grows past the page. The site did not give me a choice in the link.
Regarding the Boy Scouts of America decision. I'm definitely seeing this "victory" as a glass less than half full. To quote an anonymous commenter in the Holy Bullies and Headless Monsters blog: The headlines should be reading "BSA votes to kick gay scouts out at age 18"
Russia continues it's evil antigay agenda. Ukraine threatens to follow suit. What's up with those nimrods?
"Ukraine is not America! Kiev is not Sodom" but brave activists fight on.
The Boy Scouts of America ended their ban on gay scouts today. But not on gay leaders. And not on nontheist scouts.
They got a lot of pressure from multiple directions. I think that helped.
Now for the rest of their bigoted policies.....
I'm with you Chrissie, Dallas, and Daniel. If an anti-gay supporter wants to be a selfless martyr and end their life over two people loving each other, then let them kindly proceed, as long as they don't take any innocent victims with them. I will save my mourning for the true victims of anti-gay hate.....those LGBTQI individuals who have been murdered, beaten, bullied and/or themselves driven to suicide.
