I wonder if Judge Roy has sex with donkeys? His morals fit the question.

Joan, I think Roy Moore would much rather have sex with under-aged girls than with a Democrat.  :)

“Have You Considered Your Parents’ Happiness?”Conversion Therapy Ag...

"Homosexuality is neither a crime nor officially regarded as an illness in China. For decades, the legal status of consensual same-sex activity between men was ambiguous, but that was cleared up in the revised criminal code of 1997. In 2001, the Chinese Society of Psychiatry removed homosexuality from its list of mental disorders. This is consistent with the consensus of global medical associations that homosexuality is not a medical condition."

However! There is always a however!

"public hospitals and private clinics in China continue to offer so-called 'conversion therapy,' which aims to change an individual’s sexual orientation from homosexual or bisexual to heterosexual, based on the false assumption that homosexuality is a disorder that needs to be remedied. "

"Chinese authorities have not taken the necessary steps to stop public hospitals or private clinics from offering conversion therapy."

Does anyone know what the cost of "conversion therapy?" I didn't find figures in a quick glance at the references. Certainly, a profit motive must be involved in the continuing practice.

Daniel, I hate to say it, but I agree on the Roy Moore issue.  There are enough bigoted Alabama voters out there to put him in the Senate.  The question becomes: what do Mitch McConnell & Co. do with him when he gets there?  They've already come out in opposition to his candidacy.  Is that all talk, or is there something in the chamber besides gunpowder?

Congrats, Australia!

  • Turnbull, who said he’d be open to certain amendments, will surely see some designed to let religious bigots discriminate against gay people. He should reject anything that allows such discrimination in public spaces. If conservative Christians want to be bigots, they should limit it to their own congregations instead of infesting the rest of us with their faith-based poison.

Australians Say ‘Yes’ to Same-Sex Marriage, Clearing Path for Legalization

  • “The Australian people have spoken, and they have voted overwhelmingly ‘yes’ for marriage equality,” said Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, who called the survey in a move described by advocates as a delay tactic devised to appease his party’s far-right faction. “They voted ‘yes’ for fairness, they voted ‘yes’ for commitment, they voted ‘yes’ for love.”

Damage the image of the party? Hell, at this point (to quote a friend) the Republicans put this kind of shit on their resumes. As long as it wasn't a boy or a scrofulous long-haired dachsund, righteous Judge Roy gets a free ride (so to speak).

Carl, I agree, "They (Republicans) want him gone so he doesn't damage the image of the party even more than he already has before these sexual allegations were even made."

It will be interesting to watch that vote; if he is voted in with the mounting bits of claims against him, we may be able to assume that religion trumps morals. My goodness, those three words have many meanings, especially when used together.

It will be a while before the allegations run their legal course. My hope is that young girls and their mothers go immediately to the police and file a report. That way, the incident will be recorded. It is like family violence, it is important to file a report at once, and keep a journal about the outcome. It may be of help in future situations.

If an adult man sexually mistreats a child, boy or girl, the past history reveals a sad reality of not believing the child and or hiding the crime. Years later, the child may reveal what happened to him or her and many ask, "Why wait so long to report it?" If one ever worked in a sexual abuse unit, that person knows why reports are not made.
