Forum is now open for comments only, due to limited moderation.

The original creator has been absent 8 years.  She may no longer identify as Lesbian or as Atheist, but could still experience discrimination due to being listed as creator of this group.  This group does come up on internet search with this person, and her photo photo, as group creator.  We live in era when discrimination can be expected to increase on many fronts.

I moderated since that time. On several occasions, I requested that another member moderate, but was unable to find a volunteer who would actively moderate content.

Please be aware, posts left active on this group, especially discussion forum, can be hazardous to members, even ones who have been gone for many years.  In most states and countries, there is no protection for LGBT people regarding employment, housing, or employment.  The same is true regarding atheists.  Some members may not even be aware of discrimination, and may not be aware that their old posts and images are still there to come back and haunt them.  Posts and the membership list are visible on internet searches.

There has been at least one case of a member of Atheist Nexus experiencing employment discrimination due to their membership.

Another member of Atheist Nexus was murdered in India, in 2011 (Ajita Kamal).  As far as I can tell, the perpetrator and motive were never found, but Kamal was a known atheist, and known atheists are frequently targeted for brutal killings in South Asia.

Any member who posts, without having their own photo or name on their screen name and avatar, is expressing implied agreement, by default, about the importance of privacy, even on the internet.

A controversial group needs an active moderator, who will look out for the needs and safety of the members, as much as possible in such a forum.

As has recently been done, posts on Atheist Nexus are subject to screenshots.  They are also be subject to internet search.

I recommend that interested members start a new LGBT group, so that there is no issue with long absent group creator and no longer having a moderator.  Until that time, this group is open for a rolling comment wall.  I am not able to expire comments without closing the entire comment page, due to host program (Ning) limitations on moderation.

If this commentary about nuns their habits can move on to the gay penguin controversy, there would be no end to the silliness.

As for hateful propagand spread by theistic demagogues, their words don't just spread hate in their communities, they serve as examples and give excuses for hate crimes against GLBTQIA people. They also provide wedge issues to unite the 'base of hate' to motivate them, give money to their political organizations, and influence elections.

I read the book ages ago. Big deal - a book describing how to get people used to they fact that they ahve gay neigbors, family members, and coworkers. Big deal - a book that helps promote homosexuality as ordinary - which is exactly what it is.

The video takes the view that it's bad for GLBTQIA to promote their cause. They are wrong. It's bad to promote hate. And that is what the video does.

Thanks Marx, what a load of crap, they get crazier by the day. Why would god, who supposedly created everything have the slightest interest in who we go to bed with or how. We do have a certain status though, we are one of the last minorities it is still legal to hate.

In case you didn't see this, Rep. Sally Kern of Oklahoma has come out with a Proclamation for Morality. It seems that the real cause of the economic crisis is gay marriage, among other forms of "debauchery". Here's the link to the story:

Wasn't the hockey mom last week resembling the same commentary? I'm curious if she's gonna lead the plight of the victimized right? Ahhh, poor republican right wing zealots!!!

I think we should all sign up to the silencing christians website and request the free book, if we get enough people to sign up and request the freebies then surely they won't have enough money left to spend on producing this rediculous drivel.

Dave P,
I'm not familiar with the book they mention, either, but I suspect you are right in thinking that they lifted from the book only that which would serve their agenda.

I'm not familiar with the book that is mentioned at the beginning but, and this is just a hunch, would I be right in thinking that the chunks the ghastly woman quotes are taken very much out of context? The bits about changing America and using the media?

Thank you for posting the link to that christian homophobe propaganda video. It's important to know what hate people are spewing, and what their techniques involve. It's a sick piece of shit, but if we don't keep our eyes open and our minds sharp, the hatemongers will gain hard-fought ground.
