Forum is now open for comments only, due to limited moderation.

The original creator has been absent 8 years.  She may no longer identify as Lesbian or as Atheist, but could still experience discrimination due to being listed as creator of this group.  This group does come up on internet search with this person, and her photo photo, as group creator.  We live in era when discrimination can be expected to increase on many fronts.

I moderated since that time. On several occasions, I requested that another member moderate, but was unable to find a volunteer who would actively moderate content.

Please be aware, posts left active on this group, especially discussion forum, can be hazardous to members, even ones who have been gone for many years.  In most states and countries, there is no protection for LGBT people regarding employment, housing, or employment.  The same is true regarding atheists.  Some members may not even be aware of discrimination, and may not be aware that their old posts and images are still there to come back and haunt them.  Posts and the membership list are visible on internet searches.

There has been at least one case of a member of Atheist Nexus experiencing employment discrimination due to their membership.

Another member of Atheist Nexus was murdered in India, in 2011 (Ajita Kamal).  As far as I can tell, the perpetrator and motive were never found, but Kamal was a known atheist, and known atheists are frequently targeted for brutal killings in South Asia.

Any member who posts, without having their own photo or name on their screen name and avatar, is expressing implied agreement, by default, about the importance of privacy, even on the internet.

A controversial group needs an active moderator, who will look out for the needs and safety of the members, as much as possible in such a forum.

As has recently been done, posts on Atheist Nexus are subject to screenshots.  They are also be subject to internet search.

I recommend that interested members start a new LGBT group, so that there is no issue with long absent group creator and no longer having a moderator.  Until that time, this group is open for a rolling comment wall.  I am not able to expire comments without closing the entire comment page, due to host program (Ning) limitations on moderation.

Damage the image of the party? Hell, at this point (to quote a friend) the Republicans put this kind of shit on their resumes. As long as it wasn't a boy or a scrofulous long-haired dachsund, righteous Judge Roy gets a free ride (so to speak).

Carl, I agree, "They (Republicans) want him gone so he doesn't damage the image of the party even more than he already has before these sexual allegations were even made."

It will be interesting to watch that vote; if he is voted in with the mounting bits of claims against him, we may be able to assume that religion trumps morals. My goodness, those three words have many meanings, especially when used together.

It will be a while before the allegations run their legal course. My hope is that young girls and their mothers go immediately to the police and file a report. That way, the incident will be recorded. It is like family violence, it is important to file a report at once, and keep a journal about the outcome. It may be of help in future situations.

If an adult man sexually mistreats a child, boy or girl, the past history reveals a sad reality of not believing the child and or hiding the crime. Years later, the child may reveal what happened to him or her and many ask, "Why wait so long to report it?" If one ever worked in a sexual abuse unit, that person knows why reports are not made.

I think the AL voters will make the decision about Moore.  And there is a good chance they will vote for him.  I saw there was discussion either excusing the behaviors as youthful indescretions, or plots by Clinton / Obama democrats to discredit him.  They consider him a warrior for God.

Several Republicans have come forward publicly stating that Roy Moore should end his campaign.  I find this rather interesting.  Usually there's silence or a lot of hesitation in jumping to conclusions on mere allegations when one's own political party is involved.  My theory is that most Republicans would concede that Roy Moore is far too bat-shit crazy and off-the-deep-end right-wing even for them.  They want him gone so he doesn't damage the image of the party even more than he already has before these sexual allegations were even made.

Love the sin, hate the sinner!

Woman says Roy Moore initiated sexual encounter when she was 14, he was 32

Thanks for the link, Daniel. If the antigay activists' god is so powerful and so against same-sex sex, she/he/it could have stopped all the animals that do it and "corrupt" humans with inconvenient facts!

gay lions are affectionate with each other.  heterosexual lions are the opposite.

Linda Harvey has a total obsession about gay men.   Total homomania.   That reminds me about the NOM people, who I guess are making their homomaniacal hate money elsewhere.  Dopey Brian Brown and Vogon poetess Maggie Ghallager.  Maybe they adopted Kim whats-her-name, the serial adulteress from Kentucky who wants to preserve "Traditional Marriage" which  is far different from what she apparently wishfully thinks.

I like the friendly atheist wesite.  It is a vibrant community with tons of news and updates, commentary, and commenting members.  Kind of an ideological silo, but I still like it and it includes good news as well as bad.

Linda Harvey: Disney’s First Gay Main Character Should Have Been Molested First

Yes, why couldn’t the character have been molested first? Then everything would have made sense! Because just about everyone who’s gay went through that! Right…?

It’s typical Christian bigotry: Full of ignorance, high on confidence, and empty on substance.
