Happy Wednesday, the day of the worship of Odin- how fickle we are, forgetting that poor old deity, as if he never existed. I'm here to say hello and echo Chuck's comments below: any reason why the gay atheist groups on this site just don't roll into one supergroup, like ABBA? Just curious...and that leads to thinking.

LGBT people in California. It's getting down to the wire here. The Bigot Brigade is pulling out all the stops and funneling in millions of dollars to the Proposition 8 campaign. It's now or never. Donate if you can. My wife and I just gave $500 each (on top of the $300 I gave previously). Equality for All

Comming out Atheist was hard but I did it.
In Metro Detroit people tend to be quite religious.

Hi Claire & Betsy - Thanks for adding me as a friend *hug* I didn't really mean to cause you a headache with my comment :) No one knows better than me that you can't please all the people all the time *grin*

Disclaimer *grin* the following remarks are not directed at Claire or Betsy :) I am speaking in general terms, not directly replying to anything you have said lol. I respect absolutely everything you have both had to say – These are just thoughts sparked by the general conversation. Lol.

I think I should have said a personal truth, rather than just truth at the end *grin* I realise that not only are there trans folk who do not see themselves as part of the queer community there are queer folk who do not see transsexuals as part of the community.

To me it's all a bit trivial - it's simple, if you don't fit society's narrow definition of normal - which is based both on gender & orientation - then you're bent, queer, gay, not straight. *grin*

Once again, speaking personally, I find it ironic that some people are forever wanting to split thinks up into smaller and smaller division and subdivisions, when surely the ultimate desire is that there be no separation between "us" [gay/queer/bent/whatever] and "them" [mainstream/straight/normal].

We are all just members of the species homo sapiens - every individual, a unique, beautiful, special entity - but at the same time we are all identical in our humanness, our right to be equal - in law, opportunity, rights , respect etc. :)

I suppose I feel about it exactly the way I feel about nationalism, culture, race and ethnicity - That is, celebrate the difference, revel in the diversity, they are beautiful things - but never should they become reasons for prejudice, bigotry, violence, war etc. After all, underneath we are all the same, just members of a species trying to get through our lives as happily as we can.

*grin* in my more jaded moment I have to wonder where homo’s bloody sapience has got it lol.
