Where does Goldberg, a staunch conservative, fall on the topic of gay marriage? His feelings may surprise you. Read "As gay becomes bourgeois."
"So now openly gay soldiers get to fight and die in neocon-imperialist wars too?"David Brooks saw such ironic progressive victories coming. In his book "Bobos in Paradise," he wrote that everything 'transgressive' gets 'digested by the mainstream bourgeois order, and all the cultural weapons that once were used to undermine middle-class morality ... are drained of their subversive content.' "

A couple of videos in the group heading on Uganda. If we were going to have a "Profiles in Hate" series, Scott Lively would be a top-10 contender. He claims that Naziism was led by gays, influenced or coauthored the Uganda bill. I don't know what his thing is with Latvia - I guess few countries will welcome him. He is quoted in conservapedia as stating "" In reality, homosexuality is nothing more than same-gender conduct among people who are innately and unchangeably heterosexual. Homosexuality is thus biologically (and to varying degrees morally) equivalent to pedophilia, sado-masochism, bestiality and many other forms of deviant behavior."
Scott Lively is an example of the evil that results from the combination of religion, politics, and whatever is his personal psychopathology.
@ Sentient Biped
And of course you are right, any end to discriminatory practices is to be welcomed.
My post was pointed more towards the irony contained within the Law of Unintended Consequences
(i.e Vote for Gay Marriage, get Gay-Mother-in-Laws)
DADT may be limited to knowing or disclosing. But what about actual acts of sodomy under US Uniform Military Code?Uniform Code of Military JusticeART. 125 of the UCMJ-SODOMY(a) Any person subject to this chapter who engages in unnatural carnal copulation with another person of thesame or opposite sex or with an animal is guilty of sodomy. I get your point, and it's valid. I don't agree with all of the military intervertions or actions myself, although I'm not 100% pacifist and I am in fact a veteran. I have been against the Iraq war from the start, and consider it part of the corruption of the Bush / Cheney regime. I have mixed feelings about the war in Afganistan but am not happy abour that either.
However, the ongoing discrimination against LGBT people is part of the larger picture of expressing our inferiority, poor character, that others feel contaminated by our presence. I think that being equally at risk or involved in military is part of being a full citizen. I understand if you disagree and respect your view.
woo -hoo! Now we can be blown up needlessly in someone else's country for spectacularly little reason... wait... what?
