Welcome to Gay / LGBTQI Atheists & friends!

I will be taking a reduced role at Atheist Nexus as of Oct 1, 2017. I will not be moderating this group after that time, and I will be re-zeroing most of my groups and comments.

That will leave this group without a moderator. Since this group was started by a member who hasn't visited Nexus for many years, it is not possible to select or designate a moderator. Instead, I will send notification to Br. Richard that the group will be without a moderator. It will then be up to him to decide how to proceed.

Since this is a popular group, I recommend that a member start up a new group for quotations, so that the members can continue adding and reading their favorite quotes.

Thanks and happy reading!

I feel troubled to think that anyone would turn to such awful, despicable individuals and stories in the bible for moral guidance. It is far more misguided to suppose that these troubled, dysfunctional men expect me to think and do as they.

From the Slacktivist on Patheos, a feel-good statement about the Nashville Statement.

-------

This theological mistake of “biblical literalism” somehow still manages to frame itself as a “conservative” approach to the Bible and to theology. My contention is that there is nothing “conservative” about it. This was not the hermeneutics of the apostles, of the early church, of the Ante-Nicene fathers, of Augustine, or of the Reformers. It did not gain a foothold anywhere in the church until it arose among white Protestants in America as a defense of slavery.
This clumsy, proof-texting literalism is able to pose today as “conservative” because it has lingered here in America for centuries and theological mistakes — like politicians, ugly buildings, and prostitutes — “get respectable if they last long enough.” But just look at its record over the past 200 years of its ascendance among white American Protestants. It has been consistently, repeatedly, disastrously wrong.
We know this. We’ve seen this before and we’re seeing it again.
One, two, three strikes you’re out.
It is bewildering to think that anyone would turn to such awful creatures for moral guidance. It is far more bewildering that these silly, silly men expect us all to do so.

Wow, BB, I missed that groundbreaking article about homosexual  fire ant chemtrails until now!   Im about two generations removed from spent sweats of late-night homosexuality  (SSLNH) but maybe today's generation can continue to contribute.  Plus, I read there are rafts of fire ants floating around in Houston's flood waters.  No discussions about whether the rafts are in  are rainbow colors.

Bertold, Oh! My goodness!  Did you see this page of Liberal Darkness]? It is satire to the max! I wonder if there is a room of crackheads dreaming up all these stupid ideas. "Ants that bite Christians and turn them into homosexuals!!" Come on now!

I don't like fighting fire with this kind of fire. It is kind of like joining the Club of Outrageous! I don't want to belong to such a club.

I know, I'm a little old lady with Victorian values, but I would like to fight the likes of tRump, Hannity, and Alex whatever his name is with good, reliable, verifiable, replicative, honest factual evidence.

I respect pigs too much to bring them into this discussion, however, I can't think of a better metaphor,

"I learned long ago, never to wrestle with a pig. You get dirty, and besides, the pig likes it."

The "spent sweats of late-night homosexuality" is a long-neglected area of science that is well worth looking into.  I'm glad it's finally being talked about in the media.

Fake news??? You decide!

Fire Ants Are Being Laced with Homosexual Chemtrails to Bite Christians And Convert Them To Homosexuality

The homosexual chemtrail concoction contains a high concentration of gay endorphins.  Sources confirm that several exclusive gay clubs collected the spent sweats of late-night homosexuality, then sent them to a laboratory where in-vitro techniques were used to create this potent new form of biological homosexual chemtrail.

Carl, your  "Masculine Women! Feminine Men!" reminds me of Saturday mornings when we watched silent movies at the theater in the town where I was born, Tekoa, WA. There was a silent movie clip before we saw some western cowboy movie.

Berthold, your article by Masha Gessen makes an important point,

"This [banning transsexuals from the military] is no distraction: it is the very heart of Trumpism.
