Hi my name is Steve ....first name. My middle name is Ari , which i commonly use. Glad to be here ! I am lucky to be a New Englander. I lived with a partner once in the bible belt and couldnt leave there fast enough ! I basically grew up without religion.

Wow! Autocorrect actually learned something useful.

GC - you're making me wish for the first time that prayers would work.

(btw, Ruth, my phone's autocorrect has learned that capitalization of tRump!)

A Joe.My.God. commenter, in a post about today being International Blasphemy Rights Day, reposted Pablo F. Lobo's cartoon that's appropriate here:

Young woman to silver-haired priest: “Father, I'm lesbian...” “Ask God for help to cure you from that sin!” [woman kneeling, hands together in prayer] “God, please, let my problem disappear...” [priest disappears with a 'PUF' of smoke](click to enlarge) This seems to be a translation from Portuguese.

ROFL, physics to prove gay marriage wrong. Quite a chuckle.

Thanks for the heads up on tRump's promise to persecute us, Bertold. <sigh>

In a declaration surprising to no one, Trump pledges to bring hate to a state near you.

Trump Promises State Sanctioned Religious Discrimination

[entire article]

Trump promises to support religious based discrimination against LGBT people if elected president.

In a little noticed press release issued late last week Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump pledged his support for the First Amendment Defense Act, which would explicitly authorize discrimination against LGBT people.

In the statement, issued September 22 and titled “Issues Of Importance To Catholics,” Trump promises to protect sincerely held religious beliefs, even if that means sanctioning discrimination against LGBT people and others.

Growing up gay in Communist China - not bad per this author.

Ning emigrated about 30 years ago, mainly due to persecution. I should add that when I lived in Indiana about the same time, local police were entrapping gay men, arresting them and publishing their names in the newspaper, the University chancellor at Purdue, where I was a grad student, reassured students' families that there were no gays in his university, there were mysterious murders, my friends received death threats, and AIDS was killing many of my friends and associates. sometimes, it gets better.

Daniel, I think you're right - being gay is just a polarity reversal at some fundamental level. It's nothing for anyone to get their knickers in a wad over.

Although Mr. Amalaha's scientific conclusions are bogus, there should be a Nobel prize for thinking outside the box. Kind of like a Darwin Award for intelligence.
