Welcome to Gay / LGBTQI Atheists & friends!

I will be taking a reduced role at Atheist Nexus as of Oct 1, 2017. I will not be moderating this group after that time, and I will be re-zeroing most of my groups and comments.

That will leave this group without a moderator. Since this group was started by a member who hasn't visited Nexus for many years, it is not possible to select or designate a moderator. Instead, I will send notification to Br. Richard that the group will be without a moderator. It will then be up to him to decide how to proceed.

Since this is a popular group, I recommend that a member start up a new group for quotations, so that the members can continue adding and reading their favorite quotes.

Thanks and happy reading!

Ugh. I'd apologize for the whole state of Minnesota, but there are enough of us here who are fighting against hate and for equality. Every time they open their mouths they're getting worse press; and we had a huge victory a couple of weeks ago with the Anoka-Hennepin school district revising its own "don't say gay" policy. We have a long way to go, and with the redisricting of Michele Bachmann's district and it becoming even more conservative it'll be harder for a Democrat to oust her. But the gays of Minnesota are not giving up. We're just getting louder.

Mandatory teaching of hate in Iowa High school - teenagers were required to stay in assembly hosted by "You can run but you can't hide".  Apparently a "bigot-friendly" school.  The school superintendent stated that inviting the designated hate group to the school was an accident, and they intend not to allow it again.  The Minnesota-based musical group,"Junkyard Prophet" is representing YCRBYCH here.  Minnesota, of course, is working hard to be the hate capital of the upper midwest.  Michelle Bachmann would be proud - and probably is.

TFA, you are right of course.  I just wish the "Adam and Barney" guy would have said "Fred and Barney".  That would have been even funnier, what with the dinosaurs and all.

RE: Omaha municipal testimony video.  The "logic" of these people is so twisted and irrelevant to the fundamental issue of human rights and decency.  The scary part is that these people are obviously involved in the political process and I'm sure they vote, which is why this video shows exactly why this country is so politically f*cked up.

Amazingly poignant - Onion story about me at 12 years old. OK, not me, but it could have been.  Completely.  How weird.  This is funny?  I thought it was sad, touching, sensitive, and completely real.  Strange.....

"If god had meant for man to lay with man, he would have created Adam and Barney.  If god had meant for woman to lay with woman, he would have created Eve and Rosie"  If you watch this please dont be drinking milk at the keyboard - you will ruin it.

Plus, if you have equal rights, men who play lousy basketball will get to play on the womens' team.

Faithamerica delivered 20,000 petitions to MSNBC about their giving voice to the antigay hate group.  MSNBC refused to air their commercial.  They are well aware of the issue.  MSNBC continually offers a friendly venue to Perkins without informing their viewers of FRC's status as a hate group or including any rebuttal from progressive religious leaders. Perkins has appeared on MSNBC more often this year than on any other cable news network.  I wonder how Rachel Maddow feels about this.

Ruth - thanks.  If not for the Onion, how would we know the "rest of the story"?

Thanks, Sentient Biped. The Onion rocks as usual. The parody of shiny zooming opening patriotic animation was also a hoot.

Getting caught up on the posts here.

Good question Sentient Biped. Have you thought about writing them about it?
