Gay couple turned away from Bed and Brekafast hotel in UK win ruling that this was direct discrimination and therefore illegal and equality legislation.

The ruling establishes that Civil Partnerships for Gays in the UK deserve and have equal protec... as heterosexual marriages from discrimination. (The hotel in question was run by Christians who had had a double-bed policy that was only for "married" couples.)

Judge's ruling set to be a cause for concern to Conservatives (rightly so!!!)

"Whatever may have been the position in past centuries it is no longer the case that our laws must, or should automatically reflect the Judaeo-Christian position." He goes on to quote Lord Justic Laws in his ruling over the similar case of a Relate counsellor dismissed for refusing to offer sex advice to gay couples: "The general law may of course protect a particular social or moral position which is espoused by Christianity, not because of its religious imprimatur, but on the footing that in reason its merits commend themselves."

Reflections on the effect The Equality Act 2006 has had on moving towards a less prejudical society in Britain behind the link....

it warms my secular heart to see a religion being told "NO!"

However, being a civil suit and therefore a case of competing rights, and becuase the judge found in favour of the the couple bringing the case which is consistent with the legislation, it necessarily means the hoteliers rights are being impinged, hence they have been given leave to appeal the ruling, but one wonders on what grounds an appeal could be made or attempted successfully.

So it will probably stand as a new piece of case law precendent clarifying the legislation (establishing civil partnerships and the application of the equality act to them) thus putting the rights of gays in civil partnerships on equal legal footing in terms of protection from direct discrimination of denial/restriction of goods and services, as heterosexual married couples.

And that is a very good thing.

America, take note.

Sentient, your list makes me laugh and cry.  So pathetic!

Healy, your gym tale is awesome.  It reminds me of one time when I was with my main fag, Sergio, at the bar my then time gf managed, and he told me he had shaved his balls and he wanted me to feel them. We scurried off to the women's bathroom and he unzipped his pants and put my right hand on his balls.  We thought the bathroom was empty, but a stall door came open and a woman looked at us in disgust.  She said, "Yall are sick.  I'm telling the manager."  We loled because we knew my gf would think it was hilarious and tell her to get lost.

I was once at the gym and as i was tying my shoelace the guy stood opposite me dropped his shorts and began shaving his balls with a disposable razor.

That still gives me many happy memories.

So can we add 'my gym' to the list?

Somewhere there must be a "top 10 places not to meet a same sex partner".  So far on here, there is...

1.  Walmart.

2.  Craiglist.

3.  DMV.

4.  May I add the waiting room at the county health clinic?

That still leaves 6 more.

Dominic, if you can't find quality men at WalMart, maybe you should try the DMV:)  I actually do meet women at the grocery store, but they are usually straight and just want an adventure.  Luckily I love adventures!

Katchaya, that would be an incredibly long distance relationship!

Sentient Biped, I usually have a "buddy," because the girls I "pick up" usually come to my house and don't leave for 6 months to a year.  I've decided this is what works for me.  My 7 year gf died years ago, and I don't expect to settle down ever again.

In other news, Bristol Falin is going to be in town here on the 22nd.  For 120 bucks I can go to the dinner and meet her.  I think I'll busy myself with gay things instead.  Or maybe get pregnant so I can get an abortion (she's being sponsored by an anti-abortion charity).

I can't figure it out.  Somehow, I'm not meeting quality men at Wal-Mart, or on Craig's List.  I don't know what I am doing wrong?

I hate when you see a guy, but then he cheats on you with his wife.

I need a match-maker!

too funny. Dr. Kellie I would date you!  Too bad you live in a different time zone.

Gotta get you snuggling something more biological than a pillow.

I agree, and I'm working on it....
