Forum is now open for comments only, due to limited moderation.

The original creator has been absent 8 years.  She may no longer identify as Lesbian or as Atheist, but could still experience discrimination due to being listed as creator of this group.  This group does come up on internet search with this person, and her photo photo, as group creator.  We live in era when discrimination can be expected to increase on many fronts.

I moderated since that time. On several occasions, I requested that another member moderate, but was unable to find a volunteer who would actively moderate content.

Please be aware, posts left active on this group, especially discussion forum, can be hazardous to members, even ones who have been gone for many years.  In most states and countries, there is no protection for LGBT people regarding employment, housing, or employment.  The same is true regarding atheists.  Some members may not even be aware of discrimination, and may not be aware that their old posts and images are still there to come back and haunt them.  Posts and the membership list are visible on internet searches.

There has been at least one case of a member of Atheist Nexus experiencing employment discrimination due to their membership.

Another member of Atheist Nexus was murdered in India, in 2011 (Ajita Kamal).  As far as I can tell, the perpetrator and motive were never found, but Kamal was a known atheist, and known atheists are frequently targeted for brutal killings in South Asia.

Any member who posts, without having their own photo or name on their screen name and avatar, is expressing implied agreement, by default, about the importance of privacy, even on the internet.

A controversial group needs an active moderator, who will look out for the needs and safety of the members, as much as possible in such a forum.

As has recently been done, posts on Atheist Nexus are subject to screenshots.  They are also be subject to internet search.

I recommend that interested members start a new LGBT group, so that there is no issue with long absent group creator and no longer having a moderator.  Until that time, this group is open for a rolling comment wall.  I am not able to expire comments without closing the entire comment page, due to host program (Ning) limitations on moderation.

GC, I was saddened that Josh still believed in the mormon god.  Hopefully, he will come to realize that god doesn't exist.

Daniel, I had the same thought:  "Now can it give them their lives back?"

Josh's Afterlife Analogy was good until he said he still has faith that god will give him what makes him happy.  That's something that was never taught when I was mormon.  They say the only way to be happy is to have many wives pumping-out billions of children.

Of course, they may have changed their tune in the last 30 years. They tend to do that to keep the money rolling in.

Interesting how "virgins" is most often associated with women!

Maybe Josh will realize that such a god -- whose afterlife of "perfect happiness" would make him, and millions of other gay men and lesbians, miserable -- is simply not worth following and worshiping and obeying. (But an official Mormon website wouldn't cover that!)

Of course, if an all-powerful god were so opinionated about our attractions and sexualities, he could turn everyone straight in heaven. If all those premises were true, he could just as easily have turned everyone straight here in the actual world. Hasn't happened.

Mormon and gay.  From the website of that name.

It's interesting to hear him say something to the effect of, "Ew, God promises that I will be with a woman in the next life.  Gross!". I wonder what gay Muslims think about getting 72 virgins in the next life.

In the news, other things I never thought I'd see -

UK posthumously pardons thousands of gay men.

Which is wonderful.  Now can it give them their lives back?  Still, I should not be negative.  That's an amazing societal shift.

Germany to offer $33million in reparations to gays arrested during and AFTER the Nazi era.  " More than 140,000 men were convicted, and 50,000 of those faced charges after the end of WWII" and "The law ceased to be enforced in 1968, but was not removed from the books until 1994. And while the Nazi-era convictions of gay and bisexual men were finally removed in 2002, those convicted after the war are still awaiting a pardon."

That is despite the fact that Angela Merkel considers it important to have social progress for women but not gays.  Kind of like the openly atheist and "living in sin" former PM of Australia, Julia Gillard who said she couldn't support nontraditional relationships.  Still, I'm awed about the German movement toward reparations.

Again, you can't give those men their lives back, but reparations are a clear acknowledgement of the wrong that was done and could not just be blamed on "those' past Nazis.

I don't know.  BB you are probably right as usual.

Somehow, I never thought I would say "There's a marijuana store between Home Depot and Safeway".  Boggles the mind.  Maybe that's just Portland.

But what happens if you mix the gay pot and the hetero marijuana?

(In any case, make sure that people about to use it know what they're getting!)

Remember though, you not only need fag pot, but you have to mince it properly (Fortunately we're all good at mincing!) and mix it with just the right proportion of lsd in order for it to be efficacious.

BB thank you for the info.

Actually, their is a marijuana store in Portland, on Jantzen Beach.  It's between the side with Denny's and Home Depot, and the side with Safeway and Hooters.  My guess is they only have hetero marijuana, but what do I know?
