Welcome to Gay / LGBTQI Atheists & friends!

I will be taking a reduced role at Atheist Nexus as of Oct 1, 2017. I will not be moderating this group after that time, and I will be re-zeroing most of my groups and comments.

That will leave this group without a moderator. Since this group was started by a member who hasn't visited Nexus for many years, it is not possible to select or designate a moderator. Instead, I will send notification to Br. Richard that the group will be without a moderator. It will then be up to him to decide how to proceed.

Since this is a popular group, I recommend that a member start up a new group for quotations, so that the members can continue adding and reading their favorite quotes.

Thanks and happy reading!

I agree, Daniel. Let those people who believe faith is the way to make decisions and laws have no place in a rational society. They don't seem to know how to negotiate or compromise.

Next time Alabama succedes from the union, I say let them. And Mississippi, Arkansas, North and South Carolina, and Indiana.

One thing is a bit sad about Roy Moore's situation: if he's found guilty and removed from the bench a second time, he'll be free to run for governor and very possibly win.

Alabamans reelected him to the state's high court in 2012, after he was removed in 2003 for defying a federal court's order, upheld on appeal, to remove his Ten Commandments monument from Alabama's supreme court building.

Such sad news:

Alabama Chief Justice Moore suspended for rejecting legalization of same-sex marriage

Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore was suspended on Friday for defying the legalization of marriage equality, AL.com reported.

Moore was suspended after the Alabama Judicial Inquiry Commission filed ethics charges against him. Moore will now be tried by the Alabama Court of the Judiciary, and could be removed from the bench if found guilty.

The commission’s move was spurred by complaints by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), which released a statement saying Moore had “disgraced” his position.

Loren, that's great news!  I saw something about that rule, that it effectively overturned the North Carolina law as well.  Or maybe just part of it, I don't know.

Could you use some encouraging words, gang?  The following was in this morning's copy of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, 20 April, 2016:

They just had a great item on Sixty Minutes interviewing a person born with a woman's body, and a man's gender ID.  It was really open and frank.  He said one thing he hasn't decided yet is if he wants to get pregnant.  He was on the women's swim team at Harvard, and then switched to the men's.. You can probably go to the CBS web site for 60 Minutes, and watch it there.
