No wonder the big guy's so ugly!
Ya gotta love the Alabama GOP lionizing St. Clarence Thomas for what he does best - being a dick.
Bertold, marriage equality and nondiscrimination laws, etc., do threaten one thing: some people's perception that their religious traditions and dogma are obviously right because even the civil government is going along with them.
Anyway, I just read that the Alabama Republican Party chairman unwittingly wrote one true statement in his diatribe against same-sex marriage, after a federal judge struck down Alabama's ban on same-sex marriage as unconstitutional:
"We have made God in our image."
Daniel, you could dress as the guy in the parable about the man who was to marry 10 virgins on the same night. IF you can find 10 genuine virgins to go along with the joke....
So true, Carl. I've yet to hear a coherent answer to how same sex marriage "threatens" any other marriage. The California judge said it best - "There's no such thing as gay marriage, there's just marriage, and everyone is entitled to it."
"...we will march for a true and just cause, for the civil right of Americans to enjoy the benefits of natural marriage, the union of one man and one woman, the foundation of society and the cradle of civilization."
These idiots are marching for the civil rights and benefits that they already enjoy. No one has taken anything away from them!
Thanks for that video, Daniel!
Bertold, "Sanctity of Marriage Alabama", on their Facebook page, is unwittingly demonstrating the parallel between racial discrimination and gender and sexual-orientation discrimination, the parallel they and NOM are denying:
(They're also demonstrating their religiously-based animus, which will look really good to the Supreme Court! :-)
The National Organization for Marriage is planning a massive "march on Washington" in April, and they've sent out a fundraising invitation letter to the nation comparing this effort to the original 1963 march for equal rights, replete with attempts at comparing their own efforts to those of MLK.
I can't promise you that we will have a historic speech like Dr. King's "I have a dream" speech, nor can I promise you 250,000 people will come to Washington, but I can promise you this: we will march for a true and just cause, for the civil right of Americans to enjoy the benefits of natural marriage, the union of one man and one woman, the foundation of society and the cradle of civilization.
. . . . You see, this is our last, best chance to demonstrate to the justices of the United States Supreme Court that the American people are opposed to redefining marriage and will not sit idly by while the elite and unaccountable judges rip marriage from the social foundations of society.
Added a nice video to the txt box. Lot of truth in that video, and sweet to boot.
