We should not forget, either, each time someone in Nigeria, Uganda, Tanzania, Camaroon, is lynched, burned alive, or beaten to death for being gay - those actions were inspired, promoted, and supported by American evangelicals like Scott Lively, and catholic front groups like NOM, with Brian Brown at its helm.
A tragic turn of events in Uganda. I hope, too, that Pepe Julian Onziema is safe.
This is a profoundly difficult video for me to watch. And I am so proud of the courage of Pepe Julian Onziema. And worried for his safety.
I thought the Tennessee bill was about legalizing hatred towards Gay Peoples. No shirts or shoes and UR Gay UR not Allowed in Here.Just Bullying.
It looks like the Tennessee bill, as amended, no longer requires schools to let students make announcements over the PA or speak at events (but if they do, there must be a "neutral" procedure for choosing students, and religious content is OK).
Amusingly, "The provisions of this act shall comply with ... any applicable state or federal laws, the Constitution of Tennessee and the United States Constitution." Yeah right!
I read that a Tennessee bill which actually helps students' religious proselytizing in public schools, including anti-gay bullying, recently passed the legislature by veto-proof margins.
Tennessee Passes Bill Allowing LGBT Students To Be Bullied In The Name of ‘Religious Freedom’ (The New Civil Rights Movement)
Sentinent did Tennessee recently pass a bill similar to the Miss.bill?
I read somewhere Tenn. had passed a similar bill & at the time it was waiting for the Governors' signature.
I would appreciate feed back. Thanks !!
Sentient, I'll bring the marshmallows if someone else will bring the chocolate bars. (If we can't build a campfire, we can always nuke them....verrrry carefully!)
