How does Nimoy get himself out of check and checkmate Quinto at the same time?

Technically, he could have moved a piece to block the check, allowing a piece that had previously been blocked by the piece he moved to put the other king into check and mate.  In reality, that's very unlikely in normal chess, in a game between skilled players, although I don't know the rules of Vulcan chess.

Yeah, I really enjoy games like the Grand Theft Auto series.  There are lots of gay jokes, but they're usually not really anti-gay jokes, mostly just mocking our culture's recent fascination with gay people.  Florian Kravic is ... very flaming, but he's a fun character, and Nico Bellic (the protagonist) is surprised at the changes, including the homosexuality, but he takes it all in stride and is non-judgemental.

Plus, the storyline of the second expansion, The Ballad of Gay Tony, revolves around this gay club owner and his right-hand man, Luis.  Yeah, Gay Tony is a messed up coke-head, but most of the main characters in the series are more than a little messed up.

There are several characters who do all sorts of gay-bashing ... generally the people who you're supposed to hate, particularly the guy who you end up killing in the last mission.  Luis (the person you play as) takes a lot of shit from his friends about working for a gay guy, but they're a bunch of uneducated, drug-dealing reprobates from the hood who you're not supposed to want to emulate.

The writers of the series do a decent job of walking a line, I think.  If you stay fully PC, you can't do very interesting stuff.

I'm not for full-on political correctness, necessarily.  Orson Scott Card just tends to be one of the more flagrant examples for which a little cleanup is necessary, because ... well, he's a bigoted asshole.

I think they did alter Ender's Game to remove those problems Joseph. It is now politically Correct I would imagine. I would have to see the movie though to know for certain.

Well, yeah.  Technically, it's inserting and removing a zero, in an invalid manner.  However you want to label it.

I actually haven't read Ender's Game; don't know if I'll get around to it. Agreed that a movie gives an opportunity to "fix" details.

On the "1=2" proof, I think it's easier to explain the flaw not as "dividing zero by zero is undefined" (scary, forbidden) but like this:

1*0 = 2*0      but    1*42 =/= 2*42

The multiplication by zero hides the inequality of the other factors -- which can't happen when you multiply or divide by a nonzero number.
