UN Report Says Small-Scale Organic Farming Only Way To Feed The World

This is a 2013 UN report, but I think it is very timely for us now.

"Even as the United States government continues to push for the use of more chemically-intensive and corporate-dominated farming methods such as GMOs and monoculture-based crops, the United Nations is once against sounding the alarm about the urgent need to return to (and develop) a more sustainable, natural and organic system.

"That was the key point of a new publication from the UN Commission on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) titled “Trade and Environment Review 2013: Wake Up Before It’s Too Late,” which included contributions from more than 60 experts around the world."

Joan, as you know, I'm on board!

Can anything organic grow 3 floors above a polluted street? I'll try anyway.

364 days to retire. If I make it that far. Then I hope to make my little organic two acres into our major source for every meal. It's part way there now. One can dream.

One reason I started fruit trees and grape vines first, is so they have a chance to start bearing in a few years. Other projects can wait. One reason I tried many kinds, is I know some wont work out.

This year the vegetable plots have suffered, as far as getting late winter ones planted. but summer is still a long way away, so still some good chance for many good varieties

Beautiful plan, Daniel! I hope to see your garden grow!
