Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Speak English? YOU FIRST! (Betty Bowers)

Honestly, the title to this piece is badly under-representative of the content.  To be far more accurate, what we have here is Mrs. Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, going on a rant.  Before you say it ... Say WHAAAA?  Betty Bowers ranting? …Continue

10 Things About Patriotism (Betty Bowers)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Plinius Sep 26. 2 Replies

It seems as though lately, Mrs. Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, is evolving into America's Best Patriot.  She has recently been taking some fairly well-aimed shots at a certain Orange Nightmare and his sycophantic hangers-on, regarding the…Continue

A Prayer for Our Nation (Betty Bowers)

I'm going to keep this one short and sweet.  Mrs. Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, has seen what is going on with the current occupant of the Oval Office, and my impression is that she is not at all happy with it.  True to her citizenship,…Continue

Meddlesome

TV's don't rely on the Earth's magnetic field. Otherwise, taking a TV from the US to Australia would render it inoperative. A shift or reversal in the Earth's field would play heck with compasses, but would not affect most ordinary electronics, except for the extra charged particles flooding the lower atmosphere.

That's about it, Trevor. It'll be a good time to be an African oncologist. Plus there'll be Aurora at the equator.

And welcome to the sweet shop :-)

So Ian....to the best of your knowledge it is not as logical to worry about your memory cards getting scrambled as it is to worry about the.......what do you call it.......cosmic radiation I believe?.....that has the potential to enter the earth's atmosphere and come into contact with our delicate life cycle during the the period that the poles are ACTUALLY switching correct?

The more I ponder this subject the more excited I get to see what will happen, if anything noticeable happens that is. Wow it really helps being able to discuss topics like this with real people rather than just looking stuff up on the internet. sorry I'm new to this site so I am like a little kid who just discovered candy lol.

Poles switching: As far as I understand, it happens every few hundred thousand years. The next one is overdue, but like earthquakes, these events can't be fitted into a timetable. The cause is, I think, unknown, but has something to do with periodic changes in the Earth's core. The change takes about 6,000 years and during this time the Earth loses its magnetic field, so more UV gets through. Being dark-skinned is an advantage then, otherwise use SPF 2,000.

There are a few isolated areas in the Southern hemisphere where polarity is already reversed and some experts think that this is an omen. Other experts disagree and say that switching is not imminent. Some studies of the polarity contained in various geological strata are underway but the usual rule applies: ask 2 experts and you get 3 different opinions.

That is the limit of my knowledge, I'm afraid.

Would anyone have any sources and/or info about this whole deal about the North and South poles switching? I can look it up myself but I think it would be a great subject to share our views on what will happen IF anything happens at all.

Chris Volkay, I checked out your website. My response can be found in Competing Human Nature narratives.
