Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Deep Field: The Impossible Magnitude of Our Universe (Eric Whitacre)

We've all heard about the Deep Field observations of the Hubble Space Telescope, how, almost on a whim, the device was aimed at what was thought to be an empty, unoccupied section of sky and a long time exposure was taken.  What they discovered was…Continue

Hi Debbie.  Welcome!  Lot's of great people and interesting topics here.  Enjoy the rally.  I'll be home to see if and how the mainstream media covers this event.

Hello Friends! New here, I am.

I live on the eastern shore of Maryland. Can't wait til this weekend! Here's hoping that the weather cooperates!

I had this event on my calendar and was planning to attend (especially since it coincides with the Cherry Blossom Festival) but being sick for 3+ wks has sidelined me as well as stopping my income stream so this is out of the question for me due to expense, illness and my project schedule.

On a related note, I haven't heard a SINGLE WORD about this event in the mainstream media channels (not even NPR) which causes concern for how effective the event will be.  I sincerely hope there's some media coverage of this weekend's event so the effort isn't in vain.

My local MeetUp group, FACT (Forsyth Area Critical Thinkers) has a 15 passenger van rented, leaving at 2AM Saturday. I'm going to the Meet Up on Wednesday to decide, and if there are still openings (looks good). It all depends on whether I have to go down to Kannapolis (outside of Charlotte)  that weekend to pick up our PT Cruiser (which is getting an new engine among other things).

I thought hard about going to the Reason Rally, but it may be just as well I don't.  For openers, that's money spent that could go elsewhere (still unemployed), and as it turns out, I'm available to take care of my best friend's cat while he's away over that weekend.

Still, I look forward to a LOT of stories of what goes on here and beau coup YouTube videos of the event as well.

I would SOOOO love to be there, but no funds and I can't get the time off work (it would be unpaid anyway :/ )

But....my son is going!! I told him to take lots of pictures and have a great time! Are you going, Steph??

Thanks for the tip..srsly.  I've been looking for a Search Box, in the "usual" places (upper right) and....nada.  My vision is failing, and it's very frustrating when webmasters get too "creative."  Of course they want people to look at the ads!

I see it now.

Gracias.

"There's a discussion in here somewhere about the Westboro Baptwits planniing to (try to) disrupt the Reason Rally this weekend"

This Blog is probably as closest to the source as you're going to get on this site.

"Does anybody know where I can find that discussion?  Which group?"

There are a few, as well as a couple of AN blogs on the go...
