Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Okay, gang ... when is the last time you saw Seth Andrews do an animated video on his YouTube channel?  Seems like donkey's years ago, don't it?  Well, apparently Jeff Sessions and his "religious liberty task force" got Seth's nelly up enough that…Continue

worshipping narcissists (qualiasoup & theramintrees)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Ruth Anthony-Gardner Aug 4. 2 Replies

They're all around us: people who perceive the world as revolving around them and will go to considerable lengths to make it so: narcissists.  Such beings have been with humanity, I suspect, since humanity emerged from the gene pool.  Even worse,…Continue

appropriating morality (TheraminTrees)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Joan Denoo May 1. 7 Replies

We've all heard the claim: "Human morality comes from god."  And we've all seen for ourselves what Yahweh's "morality" looks like, from condemnations of homosexuality and the treatment of women as chattel to inexplicable sanctions against the eating…Continue

My name is Carl.  Those obnoxiously pesky girls from my youth called me Carlton the Doorman (from the Rhoda TV show.)  I absolutely HATED that!  lol

Welcome to AN, Destiny. You're spot on with your "mind and matter" comment.

Hey there Destiny. Welcome to AN. I'm so glad you are here and enjoying yourself. I'm on FB, but I only have 8 friends, lol. Just family, mostly so I can keep up with how they are doing. I really don't know how to find people there, but I would dearly love to see your video. So maybe you could contact me as I'm not sure how. Tony Carroll in Palestine, Texas.

And "Mindy", if you can, I can. Full legal name Bert Anthony Carroll Jr. Eewww! Bert. Whenever someone found out, always got "Hey Bert, how's Ernie"? Still, love the muppets. lol

I was watching a football game with my brother years ago and he was like "preist holmes? I would hate to have that name" it took him a second to realize the irony! I have four brothers, one sister. Justice, and Chase are the other names my mother gave out. The other two have different biological parents, but they are real brothers to me. I just dont kniw why mom mother named one of her children justice because I dont think thats really something christians believe in7

You guys are fantastic, and fun-tastic too! My mother in law has said nothing to me but posted on her page a picture of jesis bloody on the cross saying "dont scroll down, take a look at this man, he died for your sins!" Honey, that man is trailer trash joe who looks like the jesus (u want him to look like) but I d.ont say this. I posted a picture of an iranianmwoman who died for my beliefs. Today she is my god. Im taking a break as an atheist today! Jk theres so much I wish to say, biut I dont. My other mother in law has slashed 5 sets of my tires. I go to court tuesday, and science willing I get some money back! Ive been through a lot for my beliefs, and maybe it will never stop for me, but im done hiding. Im only an " active" atheist as opposed to an evangelistic one, and I still get this? some of my immediate family knew when I was passive and mostly in the closet, and they have (not all) hurt me the most. But it was in jesus is name, so its okie doie xp

@Flying Atheist: Thank you. (Takes a bow.)  I have always enjoyed making people laugh, even at my own expense, sometimes.

Congratulations for your courage!  I've been a non-believer for almost 50 years, but I didn't say Jack schidt about it for nearly 25 years.  Mostly the subject just never came up, and I had stopped going to church about 10 years before I figured out that all religions were preposterous.

GOOD FOR YOU!

(I wouldn't trust Fakebook as far as I could kick it through the ocean.)

Hi Destiny.  I see you are new to Atheist/Nexus.  Welcome!!  Your announcement on Facebook felt refreshing, I'm sure.  It's times like those when you find out who your true friends and supporters are, and that's a good thing.  It makes those relationships stronger and more cherished, which in turn makes life better.

You're in a GREAT group here in Hang With Friends.  Some of the nicest (and funniest) people to associate with.  I wish we could all meet for a big bash of great pot-luck food and drink.  I know it would be a blast.

Happy Friday, everybody!

(**Special shout-out to Sk8eycat: you crack me up.)
