Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Hello Friends,I was ruminating a bit today on my sixty-some years existence. My mind went back to teenage years when I first figured out religion is not only obnoxiously loud, but also nothing I wanted anything to do with. Truly. I knew by age 15…Continue

Wow, sk8eycat, what a horribly managed site. It gives Atheists a bad rep to have such socially incompetent site administrators. Atheist Nexus is a safe haven from that crap.

Thanks for the cute cats, Steph. Take care, all!

Not trolling, Ruth. What's wrong with sharing a cheerful word or picture you've heard? My world would be a slightly colder place without the people here and their posts, so thanks to all.

Morning everyone! About to leave for the day.

Whoops!  I forgot to say that I've also seen real trolling in the Comments sections of Yahoo "news" articles.  Usually they are ads either for dating web sites, or those "make thousands of dollars a week at home" ads.  They paste them in about every 25 comments or so.

But, anyway, THAT is trolling.  Starting a new discussuion, or just mentioning a subject, a quote, a LOLCat ain't trolling.

Ruth, when I first went online (2001), I found an Atheist/Agnostic forum that was kinda fun, but they never asked anybody who wanted to come in if they were non-believers or not.  You just registered, and that was it.  For about a year or two it was really neat; I "met" a couple of people who have become solid friends...we're still in touch, e-mail almost daily, talk on the phone sometimes, etc.

But then xian trolls started registering using fake names, and all they usually did was keep pastiing buybull verses into all the threads...over and over and over.  Or they'd sermonize, and do the same thing....paste the same sermon all over the place.  When we yelled at them, got hostile, told them to eff-off, the moderator told US to "play nicely" with our guests.

We went elsewhere.

A good description of the tea party, Sk8eycat!

And I like your sort of trolling Ruth!
