Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

A ridiculous claim should be recognized as such as a matter of course, shouldn't it?  Shouldn't It?!?  What happens if that claim is so imbued and integrated into society over hundreds if not thousands of years that it has been taken as TRUTH…Continue

There is a petition being sponsored by whitehouse.gov to remove "in god we trust" as the national motto and replace it with the original: "E Pluribus, Unum" or "Out of Many, One."  As of this writing, there are around 11,000 signatures on it, with…Continue

Whether as atheist, agnostic, gay / Lesbian or whatever, the process of coming out has been a repeated topic of discussion here on Atheist Nexus and for good reason: it is at once a necessary yet potentially supremely painful process, depending on…Continue

The house is so empty when our pets aren't home! I hope she gets better soon, Randall!

When my one year old dog (Molly) suddenly became lethargic and wouldn't eat or drink, I took her to the vet yesterday. She had a very high temperature. I though food poisoning from a carcass of some sort. They say "infection". She stayed overnight. I'm to pick her up this morning. Gone for a day and I miss her!

"We wish you a happy birthday,
A joyous and celebrated birthday,
To you, dear Carl,
We wish you a long, long life!"

(sung as a round, to William Shield's tune that's also used for the Girl Scout song "Whene'er You Make a Promise", and for Christine Lavin's "A Christmas / Kwanzaa / Solstice / Chanukah / Ramadan / Boxing Day Song")

Carl, in cricket parlance that's "a half-century, not out". Well batted, sir.

Long ago Loren recommended this TV series and I was able to find it on the internet. This commentary strikes a bell not often played on commercial TV. Enjoy! ... that isn't the right word, well, anyway, thanks Lore. Are there any new programs of that quality on the air/internet?

Dido & Luna would do the same. When we have a visitor the cats don't like I sometimes find them under my duvet after the visit, hot and upset, poor cats. I never taught them to be frightened, but it seems they want only the usual quiet of two bookish people...

The City went ahead with the annual fireworks show last night, even though the hills are drier than dust.  I sat on the front lawn with our neighbors and enjoyed the whole thing....spectacular stuff....and there were NO brush fires!

I wish I knew how the pyrotechnicians put those shells together to get such a variety of shapes and colors....the same goes for stage illusionists....."How the H3ll do they DO that?"  Drives me crazy!
