Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Are You a Patriot? (Betty Bowers)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Bertold Brautigan 3 hours ago. 1 Reply

You might think that Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, would be stepping outside of her comfort zone in tackling the concept of patriotism.  As it turns out, not only does she have a proper handle on the term and its implications, she also…Continue

The day finally arrived.  Ken Ham's Ark Encounter opened on 7 July, 2016 ... to something a bit less than Disney-sized crowds, and more than a couple dissenting voices!  Seth Andrews has gathered a quartet of significant participants in the protest…Continue

Carl, in cricket parlance that's "a half-century, not out". Well batted, sir.

Long ago Loren recommended this TV series and I was able to find it on the internet. This commentary strikes a bell not often played on commercial TV. Enjoy! ... that isn't the right word, well, anyway, thanks Lore. Are there any new programs of that quality on the air/internet?

Dido & Luna would do the same. When we have a visitor the cats don't like I sometimes find them under my duvet after the visit, hot and upset, poor cats. I never taught them to be frightened, but it seems they want only the usual quiet of two bookish people...

The City went ahead with the annual fireworks show last night, even though the hills are drier than dust.  I sat on the front lawn with our neighbors and enjoyed the whole thing....spectacular stuff....and there were NO brush fires!

I wish I knew how the pyrotechnicians put those shells together to get such a variety of shapes and colors....the same goes for stage illusionists....."How the H3ll do they DO that?"  Drives me crazy!

Carl, 50 is a good year ... for me and for others I care about and love. Cary was born in 1963 and we saw him for the first time when he was 5 days old and brought him home. Five months and 13 days later, my twins were born. All three are 50 years old now and their lives have smoothed out nicely after some bumpy years.

It feels so good to get through all the stressors of growing up myself, and raising the kids to adulthood. I, too, am getting more progressive as I grow older and can relax more.

Do you have special plans for the 50th b.d.? May it be full of shared experiences with people you love and who love you, and that there be interesting conversation, delicious foods, and joy all around!

Thank you, Chris.  Right now I'm still 49 but my big day is coming up on the 16th.

Happy birthday, Carl! From my 40th birthday the years grew better every year and that development hasn't stopped yet. I hope it's the same for you! Conservative? No, why should we?
