Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Steven Weinberg on his anti-theism

I like the late Steve Allen's term, "DUMBTH"  As in "warmth."  It might be a finite resource...if we let the stupids take over, and their wacky policies kill the rest of us.

Heartless Cheney, formerly semi-intelligent McCain, et al, want to get us re-involved in Iraq, again, and probably the rest of the Middle East.

I just wish the media would stop referring to that part of the world as "the holy land."  There's nothing "holy" about any of it, unless living in a desert makes people delusional.

Flying A, a Belated Happy Birthday to You!  And some silly music to start your next 50 years:

What is even scarier is that he's on the energy committee.  One would HOPE that means he knows and understands something about science in general and energy in particular, but apparently, all Barton knows about is who is lining his wallet with cash.

I can't laugh at that.  It's too important to be laughed at.  What I do hope is that whoever was being questioned by him came back at him HARD.  "Congressman, do you know the least bit about the principles that give rise to wind?  Can you define 'Coriolis effect' for me?"

I'd bet a C-note he couldn't.

Oh, sure, wind is a finite resource.  When the sun burns out, there will be no more energy to create wind, and that's just a lousy four or five billion years from now, right around the corner in cosmic terms. [/sarcasm]

And while I'm at it:

Moving brother-in-law at last! Everything must be done in the next fortnight - care homes make you wait endlessly and then everything must be done within days. But we're rather well prepared so I think we'll manage.

Thank you, everyone, for all the birthday greetings. I wish I could share cake with all of you in person.

Had to order a new remote for my telly. Now I need to get a new sound card for this computer. I'm missing out here.

Reading about the life, works, and letters of Louisa May Alcott. Quite a lady. I did see her "cottage" in Concord MA a few years ago. She was more of a Deist than anything.
