Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

The following is one of TheraminTrees' most thorough-going pieces, wherein he looks at the process and techniques whereby a "religious" organization (which will sound VERY familiar to most of us, once introductions are made!) takes a person who…Continue

I really hate to write this, but my dog, Molly, was struck and killed by a hit and run vehicle Monday. I am so sad and distraught. She was 14 months old, and I've had her only 4 months, but we became attached. Now what to do?

That's cute, Mindy.

Couple of bugs in A|N I've observed this AM:

  • Clicking on a link to a comment will take you to the post that contains the comment, but not directly to the comment itself.
  • Clicking on "Reply" to a comment causes the browser to home to top of page, rather than opening a Reply window.

I've checked this with both IE and Firefox and reported it.  Seems as though something is broken in NING.  You may want to be aware of that.

A true, but a bare fragment of all the abuses and crimes, etc. we have in America. Sad state of affairs. The Ray Rice case is a good example.

Speaking of shitty shows, I was sorely disappointed in the PBS "special" on honoring Tina Fey with the Mark Twain humor award. Except for Steve Martin, the guests were pathetically unfunny.

On the other hand, the PBS shows on wildlife, especially about the orangutans (two: sign language and sex) last Wed., were exceptionally good.

Hey Joan, enjoy the new addition to your family!

Ian, that comic is so true to life.  Does Denmark have the same type of shitty reality shows we have here?

Home of close family friends, July 24, 2014. The ceiling came down around them, scared them to "death". metaphorically speaking.

Brooklyn Grace Staab was born yesterday about noon. Mother and baby doing fine. They might come today if Laurie's blood pressure and blood sugar are remaining normal.
