Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

I literally just discovered Dr. Elliott Ingersol yesterday, as a part of a discussion I had with other members of the Northern Ohio Freethought Society.  Dr. Ingersol is a licensed psychologist and clinical counselor in Ohio, as well as a professor…Continue

maggie and milly and molly and may (Edward Estlin Cummings & Eric Whitacre)

It's amazing what you discover when you go looking for something you had no idea you'd find.  On an impulse, I pulled up Eric Whitacre's website to see if he had created any new pieces.  It would seem that he has: a song cycle called The City and…Continue

Something Beautiful – Nathan Phelps & Seth Andrews

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Loren Miller Nov 10. 7 Replies

And it is beautiful, too, indeed, I think some of Seth Andrews' best work.  Interesting point: rather than Seth's dulcet baritone doing the narration, this piece presses Nathan Phelps' deep bass intonation into service, bringing a different flavor…Continue

Hello, Frank. Welcome to Atheist Nexus and Hang with Friends. It looks like you live in a hot and moist part of the southern U.S. Franklinton, LA, How is your weather at this time of year, and is it a "normal" year, whatever that is?

Times sure have changed.  I even remember being 5 or 6 years old and walking to the corner pharmacy with a neighbor friend.  Her mother would pin an envelope to her shirt filled with money and a list for the pharmacist.  We would leave the store with the purchased items......including a carton of cigarettes!

sk8eycat, I share your warm memories of the old mom and pop grocery stores and tradespeople. Those days were special. Some of them continue and I like to support them, even though their prices have to be higher because they don't get the price breaks the big stores get. You got lots of service out of your "1979 Pontiwreck"!

Do you have Community Supported Agriculture in your area? I subscribed a few years ago, but the local ones closed their doors for lack of support. I liked the produce, it was freshly picked and boxed up according to the size of my weekly order.

Felaine, I agree with Carl about you amusing names for things.  Pontiwreck is a good one.

Randy, I'm glad you've got a new companion.  Should be good for you as well as Dot.

Glad to hear about your new boxer-lab mix. Have you named her yet, Randall?

Interesting tale of the nice A/C guy and stingy plumber, sk8eycat. We get contractors through Angie’s list, because they’re rated and you give feedback that others see.

Hi, Frank. How about a picture of your location a bit larger than the icon? Are you on an island or a boat?

I'm sorry to post multiple times like this,,,,but I remember something I wanted to say after it's too late.

Sk8eycat, you crack me up with all your alternate names for everything.  Pontiwreck.  LOL

Sk8eycat, my daughters water heater, air conditioning, stove, and pump on the pool all went out on the Friday of the fourth of July weekend.
Talk about bad luck.
