Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Speak English? YOU FIRST! (Betty Bowers)

Honestly, the title to this piece is badly under-representative of the content.  To be far more accurate, what we have here is Mrs. Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, going on a rant.  Before you say it ... Say WHAAAA?  Betty Bowers ranting? …Continue

10 Things About Patriotism (Betty Bowers)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Plinius Sep 26. 2 Replies

It seems as though lately, Mrs. Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, is evolving into America's Best Patriot.  She has recently been taking some fairly well-aimed shots at a certain Orange Nightmare and his sycophantic hangers-on, regarding the…Continue

A Prayer for Our Nation (Betty Bowers)

I'm going to keep this one short and sweet.  Mrs. Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, has seen what is going on with the current occupant of the Oval Office, and my impression is that she is not at all happy with it.  True to her citizenship,…Continue

Spud, yes, orange grass would be apropos.  I also thought astro-turf would be just as appropriate since it's fake, just like Trump.

Carl, when I first layed eyes on that carrier, my brain perked-up because of all the greenery which I love.  I thought wow!  I'd like to own something like that.  O course, I'd get rid of the golf course (I assume that's what it is), most of the lawn, and plant fruit & nut trees, along with a huge garden.

But almost immediatly I saw the joke and that put a damper on my enthusiasm.

One question:  Shouldn't that grass be colored orange?

Ian, I just noticed Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead is listed as a "coming soon" film here as well.

Ian, coincidentally, one of our great independent movie theaters here will be screening The Crucible which was filmed onstage in 2014 at the Old Vic.  It's gotten rave reviews.  That may be worth a visit to see.    www.musicboxtheatre.com/films/old-vic-theatre-presents-the-crucible

It appears it is also available to stream online through different services.

A late night last night. Went to see a live streaming of 'Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead' from the Old Vic. Really, really good. Daniel Radcliffe and Joshua McGuire in the title roles with David Haig as The Player. Was home just before midnight so it was torture to get up for work at 4.50 this morning but well worth it.

Half a century after its premiere on The Old Vic stage, Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead, the play that made a young Tom Stoppard’s name overnight, returns to The Old Vic in its 50th anniversary celebratory production directed by David Leveaux.

Randy, have a wonderful trip.  I have only heard rave reviews from people who have visited Italy...especially about the food.  Enjoy yourself!
