Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Speak English? YOU FIRST! (Betty Bowers)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Donald R Barbera Sep 27. 5 Replies

Honestly, the title to this piece is badly under-representative of the content.  To be far more accurate, what we have here is Mrs. Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, going on a rant.  Before you say it ... Say WHAAAA?  Betty Bowers ranting? …Continue

10 Things About Patriotism (Betty Bowers)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Plinius Sep 26. 2 Replies

It seems as though lately, Mrs. Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, is evolving into America's Best Patriot.  She has recently been taking some fairly well-aimed shots at a certain Orange Nightmare and his sycophantic hangers-on, regarding the…Continue

A Prayer for Our Nation (Betty Bowers)

I'm going to keep this one short and sweet.  Mrs. Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, has seen what is going on with the current occupant of the Oval Office, and my impression is that she is not at all happy with it.  True to her citizenship,…Continue

I wouldn't be surprised if people at the Heritage Foundation would yuck it up if the GOP wealthcare plan passes.

Thomas - pretty much, yes. It's the "I've got mine so fuck you" mentality über alles.

Bertold,

Isn't this exactly the same mentality of the Republicans if they succeed in repeal/replace  Affordable Care Act for 10 million Americans?

From the What a Wonderful World Department:

Adisturbing video has surfaced of teens in Florida laughing at a disabled man drowning in a retention pond.

The five teens can be heard mocking Jamel Dunn, 32, as he screams begging for help. The ages 14 to 16-year-olds watch him struggle and ultimately fall under the water. When Dunn doesn’t resurface the teens continue to joke about him, The New York Daily News reported via Florida Today.

“Oh, he just died” one can be heard saying on the video. The group then laughs.

No one called 911 nor did they rush to help.

Raw Story

These kids must have been raised by atheists, right?

It Is funny, but telemarketeering is a crappy job. The shopping centre here is full of colporteurs, etc. They ask time to talk to me, and I tell them 5 seconds. After 5 seconds I wish them a good day and go on. They look so surprised then!

Comment by Thomas Murray on July 18, 2017 at 3:45pm

Kathy,

That was so funny! Some people use a whistle to blow into the speaker. It hurt the callers ears and they don't call back.

Comment by kathy: ky on July 18, 2017 at 1:18pm
On a funnier note I've been annoyed by calls from telemarketers Friday a company we recently did business with. When I answer the phone they start talking so fast I can't interrupt them. When it happened again this morning I tried to interrupt all through her opening She wouldn't shut up until she asked me if I was interested?
I asked her if she was a goddamn, fucked, idiot and she hung up on me. Lol. That made my day to finally get one to actually hang up : )

Joan, Congress and Senate can afford it. They tried to cram their crappy insurance plan on us while they continued to get nothing but the best. McConnell made a remark years ago that his family was almost ruined by his medical bills when he had polio as a child. Now that he's worth over 25 million he doesn't give a damn about people who are facing the same problems he and his family went through. McConnell went to warm springs,on the March of Dimes money, now he's voted to cut their funding. What an ungrateful bastard. I really detest him.

Who Can Afford McCain’s Surgery?

"Without insurance, the surgery would cost the patient around $100,000.

"An estimated 29 million American residents are currently uninsured, 845,000 of whom live in Arizona. The Congressional Budget Office had projected that an additional 22 million Americans would lose their health insurance over the next decade under the Senate Republicans’ initial health care legislation. The release of a new CBO estimate of the Senate GOP’s latest draft has been postponed indefinitely."

Joan,

We used to have a cat just like the white on in the pix. Her name was Ivory, left eye blue and the right eye was green.... she was also deaf.
