Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Speak English? YOU FIRST! (Betty Bowers)

Honestly, the title to this piece is badly under-representative of the content.  To be far more accurate, what we have here is Mrs. Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, going on a rant.  Before you say it ... Say WHAAAA?  Betty Bowers ranting? …Continue

10 Things About Patriotism (Betty Bowers)

It seems as though lately, Mrs. Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, is evolving into America's Best Patriot.  She has recently been taking some fairly well-aimed shots at a certain Orange Nightmare and his sycophantic hangers-on, regarding the…Continue

A Prayer for Our Nation (Betty Bowers)

I'm going to keep this one short and sweet.  Mrs. Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, has seen what is going on with the current occupant of the Oval Office, and my impression is that she is not at all happy with it.  True to her citizenship,…Continue

Grinning Cat, I "Bookmarked" for satire sites. Maybe if I watch enough of it I will become familiar with its strategy.

Ruth, I like the site you recommended: Media Bias/Fact Check. I "Bookmarked" it.

This morning, I was showing to my two kids on YouTube one of the great singer, Linda Ronstadt. I've been to her concert once and it was an amazing experience for me. Just thinking about her signatory song , "Blue Bayou" still send goosebumps all over me.

I eventually checked the web to find any info on how she is doing with her Parkinson disease, which left her unable to sing.

Here's something I didn't know about her until now:

" I'm your basic atheist that believes in maybe - I'm a spiritual atheist." ( isn't this agnosticism? )

Linda Ronstadt

" It's a real conflict for me when I go to a concert and find out somebody in the audience is a Republican or fundamental Christian. It can cloud my enjoyment. I'd rather not know."

Linda Ronstadt

" Art is for healing ourselves, and everybody needs their own personal art to heal up their problems."

Linda Ronstadt

I'd like to think that Linda (throughout her life in the music, singing and arts) have freedom and proof that religious people say it is impossible without God.

I've looked at a couple of those sites. The Wyoming Institute of Technology is fun and well put together.

Thanks for that pointer, Ruth!

Direct link to Media Bias / Fact Check's list of satire sites:

(Haven't checked them out yet... looks like a vast universe beyond The Onion! I particularly like the name of The Daily Spoof.)

Thanks all. I am subscribed, but I just never know how much to believe from the media.

Media Bias/Fact Check has a huge list of satire sites.

I used to get Mother Jones when my eyes were good enough to read magazines. It's tops for reputable investigative reporting. Now I get their emails and read online.
