Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

10 Tricks from 46 (Betty Bowers)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Ruth Anthony-Gardner Nov 6. 3 Replies

Apparently, Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, has been slumming.  That is to say, she's been talking to Mike Pence [gasp!].  It would seem as though Mike has offered some of his not-so-personal tricks of the trade on how to be a 21st century…Continue

A Powerful Message from an old wise teacher :

I received a gift this morning from a virtual friend, Pamela Smith:A Powerful Message from an old wise teacher :" One day an old wise teacher was walking through a village. A very angry and rude young man came up and began insulting him. "You have…Continue

Speak English? YOU FIRST! (Betty Bowers)

Honestly, the title to this piece is badly under-representative of the content.  To be far more accurate, what we have here is Mrs. Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, going on a rant.  Before you say it ... Say WHAAAA?  Betty Bowers ranting? …Continue

10 Things About Patriotism (Betty Bowers)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Plinius Sep 26. 2 Replies

It seems as though lately, Mrs. Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, is evolving into America's Best Patriot.  She has recently been taking some fairly well-aimed shots at a certain Orange Nightmare and his sycophantic hangers-on, regarding the…Continue

Spud, if Cheatum wins his election, I hope he doesn't live up to his name.

Chicago lies within Cook County, which has the dubious nickname "Crook County."

I got this City councel election mailpiece today & thought the last guys name was amusing:

I see those guys several times a year, Loren.  So far, they don't stop here, probably because in my letter of resignation from the mormon church, I said I would consider any contact an invasion of my privacy.  If they do show up, I got a number of questions ready for them.

A lot to be careful about Patricia.  Well wishes.

Driving home from shopping, I saw an interesting sight: two teenage boys, white shirts, dark slacks, ties, walking up the street.  Casting call for The Book of Mormon?!?  No, they didn't stop at my place, and just as well that they didn't.

Glad to hear you're safe Chris, & I figured some of our firefighters would be there.

I won't need anything like that chair either as part of the physio is to lift myself from chairs by gripping the arms, so no armless seating for me.

Apologies for not getting back sooner, but as I haven't been getting any email notices, I thought everyone was busy elsewhere.

Yes, I'm a music lover & will bring my own & I hope they let me use it during surgery.

I have the reacher, the walker, the quad cane, the toilet riser, the thick seat pad for wherever I sit, & they will have me up right away. Physio starts the day after surgery.

I have had many surgeries from ruptured appendix, to lumbar laminectomy, to gall bladder, to breast reduction, to mastectomy, to another reduction on remaining breast, & have been gotten up as soon as I was done in the recovery rooms.

This will be no different, but I have many more rules to bending more than 90*, no twisting my leg, or turning my foot, no stairs, I have to sleep with a pillow between my legs for at least 3 months, & infection is a real danger so have to be on antibiotics as well as 35 days of blood thinners. I am prone to infection especially after surgery so I have to be diligent.

We will stay in Prince George until I get the ok from the dr to travel home. We are using the Northern Health Bus to get there & back which is a very comfortable way to go.

Dr. Richard C. Halverson sounds like an appoligist.

Outside of cultural influences it seems that some people have a predisposition for worship - be it preachers who profess god, hollywood movie actors, musicians, artists, or politicians.

Are some people susceptible to hypnosis?  Is that part of it?

Ian,  kids are great fun as long as the family loves them and takes care of them. Unfortunately that doesn't always happen. I was going to upload a video of a friends grandson mutton busting. Unfortunately .mov files aren't uploadable.

February is a lovely month to have babies, Ian. My twins were born February 21, and they were just waking up to the world as the days got longer and warmer. I know you will be a fantastic grandparent.  Seeing the world with a little one provides one of life's great pleasures.

Just had a visit from my daughter and her bump-that's-going-to-be-my-first-grandchild. Lovely. She's doing well apart from acid indigestion and a bit of backache. The big date is the 19th of Feb.
