Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

To me, this is a big deal (though it may not be to them): two great YouTube video producers have joined forces to deliver one very powerful message on an important subject.  TheraminTrees and QualiaSoup (brothers, I believe) have recently released a…Continue

The myth of religions

The creation myth of civilizations instructs men to dominate, to conquer, to go forth and multiply. No reasonable person would pay attention to such a god. No hunter-gatherer receives such a senseless message from wise elders. However, that idea…Continue

10 Tricks from 46 (Betty Bowers)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Ruth Anthony-Gardner Nov 6, 2017. 3 Replies

Apparently, Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, has been slumming.  That is to say, she's been talking to Mike Pence [gasp!].  It would seem as though Mike has offered some of his not-so-personal tricks of the trade on how to be a 21st century…Continue

A friend sent this to me and asked me to pass it on. Depression is described by some as like a dark blanket over life that cannot be shed. I share it gladly!

"This touches on a very personal part of my life. Depression and anxiety are all very personal mental disorders . Everyone says: "If you need anything, don't hesitate, I'll be there for you. " Most of that's BS.... I'm going to make a bet, without being pessimistic, that out of my Facebook friends that less than 5 will take the time to put this on their wall to help raise awareness of and for those who have mental health difficulties. You just have to copy it from my wall and paste it to yours.

"Please write "done" under my comments when you do!
The toughest time of the year for depression is coming to many that do have it suffer

"Depression is part of the loneliness and feeling unloved which is always harder to deal with during holidays about family. there is a lot of exclusion of good people. Invite someone to your home who is without family. You may make a new friend."

Seems a rather long commute for 6 hours work. But it all helps I guess.

An interesting afternoon and evening. I've worked! A temp agency offered me a 6 hour shift washing up and I said 'yes'. It was at the Ikea store's customer cafeteria, flat out all the time loading or unloading a conveyor belt of dishes and cutlery. Well, it passed the time and wasn't that bad. The negatives were 3 hours of travelling plus that scraping all the greasy left-overs into a bin took my appetite away. I don't know how much I'll be paid but 6 hours work extends my unemployment benefit by 12 hours. One or two of those shifts a week wouldn't be bad.

So, the Nederlands isn't that different from Denmark. The weather is a constant topic of conversation as it can change several times a day. We've just had the wettest, cloudiest summer for 30 years but on the good side, the trees have loved it and grown up to 10% more than average.

While looking for the video, I spotted this one which reminds me of my many years cycling to work, come rain or snow:

Plinius, I couldn't watch that video because I won't sign on to facebook again.  Is this the video?

I dunno why but I am always uncomfortable in a "all the same" setting. Like if I walked into a room of just white people, I get uncomfortable. Even though I am white socializing with only white people is like being locked up in a cage. I haven't figured out why this is so.

So yea, the A.N. community members are a rare breed.
