Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

10 Tricks from 46 (Betty Bowers)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Ruth Anthony-Gardner Nov 6, 2017. 3 Replies

Apparently, Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, has been slumming.  That is to say, she's been talking to Mike Pence [gasp!].  It would seem as though Mike has offered some of his not-so-personal tricks of the trade on how to be a 21st century…Continue

Speak English? YOU FIRST! (Betty Bowers)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Donald R Barbera Sep 27, 2017. 5 Replies

Honestly, the title to this piece is badly under-representative of the content.  To be far more accurate, what we have here is Mrs. Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, going on a rant.  Before you say it ... Say WHAAAA?  Betty Bowers ranting? …Continue

10 Things About Patriotism (Betty Bowers)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Plinius Sep 26, 2017. 2 Replies

It seems as though lately, Mrs. Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, is evolving into America's Best Patriot.  She has recently been taking some fairly well-aimed shots at a certain Orange Nightmare and his sycophantic hangers-on, regarding the…Continue

Excellent Patricia.  I'll have to sent that to my mormon family.

I'm reading a book I was given as a present, The Irish Empire: the story of King Niall of the nine hostages. It would never survive the internet as it's never been edited or proof read. Examples:

'fare' for 'fair'

'thrown' for 'throne'

'decade' for 'decayed'.

The writer is an amateur historian with a background in mechanical engineering technology and might not be used to writing on a larger scale. If so, fine as long as the history is good but he's been badly served by his publisher who seems to have trusted spelling check instead of a proper editor.

Oh, my gosh as a child I saw someone naked  or walking  around after a bath .

Go back a few years and sleep  in a bed with your parents and  numourous kids in a  one bedreoom house.

.. I dislike this time of year because it brings out the worse of people and goofy religious ideas unrelated to reality.

On wall paper.

Skip trowling seens to look better and in a way proves the dwelling is sound.

The blow on  knocked down texture looks terrible and cheap..

At that age, I didn't know we were supposed to be screaming scared etc. The guy walking past with his coat open & his schlong flapping out his fly as he walked was hilarious.

The other girl reacted the same, although we only knew each other by name & were not friends. The next day at school we burst out laughing again as soon as we saw each other.

It never entered our minds to report it either, as  we just thought the guy was weird.

I don't recall hearing the adults freak out over things like this, so we didn't either.

That upright walker seems like a good idea.  Glad I don't need one, but if I do, I'll look into it.

Patricia, I hope your laughter made that guy feel foolish.

Thanks for sharing your fire "adventure", Randall. Glad to hear you had normal blood work.

Patricia, that laughter response when you were so young was ideal.

I hadn't seen an upright walker before either. I use a three wheeled walker for any lengthy excursions (i.e. a block or more). Discovered that if I put too much weight on it, my wrists suffer. This design spreads the pressure across the entire forearm, which seems better. Or if you had two devices, you could alternate.

Sounds good Ian.

Joan, some old guy exposed himself to some of us as we got out of school when we were about 10 or 11, I looked over at one girl, & she looked at me too, & we both started laughing.

I've been away for the weekend helping my daughter and her husband move from a flat in Copenhagen out to a house in the suburbs. It will take them some time to turn the house into a home but I'm sure it will be nice when they finish. They didn't expect so much work but there were some surprises when they stripped the old wallpaper: some old wooden panels and an old door for a start. Fortunately his father is a DIY wizard and can help them with a lot.
