Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

The myth of religions

The creation myth of civilizations instructs men to dominate, to conquer, to go forth and multiply. No reasonable person would pay attention to such a god. No hunter-gatherer receives such a senseless message from wise elders. However, that idea…Continue

Apparently, Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, has been slumming.  That is to say, she's been talking to Mike Pence [gasp!].  It would seem as though Mike has offered some of his not-so-personal tricks of the trade on how to be a 21st century…Continue

Nope. I used the be 5'  2 1/2'', but lost that 2 1/2'' after my back surgery.

Comment by Joan Denoo on Tuesday

I imagined you as tall, Patricia!

Comment by Patricia on Tuesday

I am 5' 0'' so it doesn't take much to make me feel snowed in.....especially when the city has done no cleaning in over a week!

Comment by Joan Denoo on Tuesday

I can't even imagine that much snow and hope I never do. I am 5' 2" and getting shorter as I age. I am quite happy to hibernate through the winter. In fact, I am very content.

Sounds about right Joan. Terrace is a long way from us, & I have actually never been there.

Randy, you rascal, getting in some sun and warmth in Florida! I envy you!

Comment by Joan Denoo on February 10, 2018 at 1:15am

171 cm of snow = 5 feet and 7.3228 inches.

Terrace receives an average annual rainfall of 970.1 mm (38.19 in) and snowfall of 375.4 cm (12.316273 feet). Is that correct?

Welcome back, Randall. That's a wail of envy you hear from across the Atlantic.

This is our latest.....

Thursday, February 8, 2018, 11:37 AM - Another moisture laden low pressure system pushing in from the Pacific has been bringing heavy snow in British Columbia's central interior and across Alberta for the past couple of days.

Upwards of 60 cm of snow could fall through Friday and parts of B.C. have already picked up a month's worth of snowfall.

Williams Lake for example, has already seen around 30 cm of snow on top of the meter they already had, with this latest system and the average snowfall amount for the region for the entire month of February is 21.1 cm. In Terrace, B.C., 56 cm of snow has fallen in the last two days, adding to the hefty total amount of 171 cm of snow since January 29.

The snow picked up across southern Alberta Wednesday night, falling at impressive rate through the overnight hours. Drivers are being urged to stay home if they can on Thursday with 20-40+ cm of snow expected through Friday morning.

We've had some very warm weather and some very cold. We expect a snow storm this weekend. Unsettled, to say the least, and that is a good indicator of climate change.
