Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Never let it be said that Mrs. Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, is anything less than up to date with the state of the art as it comes to the modern household.  However, as a discriminating conservative Christian, Betty would never tolerate…Continue

New Rule: Church and Destroy (Real Time with Bill Maher - HBO)

Bill Maher is an atheist [whoa, shock and amazement!].  He is also a dedicated opponent of Donald Trump and anyone who would support the man or his goals ... and that includes ol' Yahweh, himself!  As it turns out, there is a substantial correlation…Continue

concealing abuse (TheraminTrees)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Ruth Anthony-Gardner Sep 23. 3 Replies

We think of institutionalized child abuse and for many of us, the natural reaction is to think of the Catholic Church. Certainly, their guilt is beyond question, even as the headlines of the Boston Globe early in 2002 and the more recent news…Continue

Liberal Redneck - Climate Change the Game (Trae Crowder)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Ruth Anthony-Gardner Sep 20. 2 Replies

Trae Crowder isn't just about atheism.  He has a deep and abiding concern about what's going on with this planet's climate and the all-too-probable catastrophe we face from a fundamental change in weather patterns.  That said, Trae is thinking about…Continue

Men who challenge men to stop violence

Many men join in the effort to reduce violence against women and children and other men. He speaks of the need to place responsibility on men instead of focusing on women to stop violence. He offers a breath of fresh air, as do so many of the men on…Continue

Ian, do you get your water from a well? If so, is your water table still refreshing your aquifer? Are you rationing water?

Hopefully, those expected clouds and drops of rain will be generous!

We had a cold spell that broke yesterday, I think it was. Anyway, we are now in the 80-90°F daytime and cool nights.

Indeed, Joan. The forecast is for a few clouds and drops of rain in the coming week but not much. There's a ban on bonfires etc. too. It reminds me of the big drought of '76 that hit a lot of Europe and even killed trees because the water table dropped so much.

Ian, your drought does not seem to be easing.

Well it is what it is, & we now have a good, caring family dr. & the surgeon I have is terrific. Now its up to the hospital to get me booked, & I have to say, the sooner, the better.

Rick is flying home tomorrow, & he sounded really good on the phone today.

Patricia, I hate the thought of you having a misdiagnosis that prolonged your pain. So sorry to learn of the increased deterioration of your second hop. I hope the next procedure will bring you relief.

Plinius, I wish you could get a source of water to the roof and your garden. I don't suppose the landlord would be up to the task. It is worth a try, especially since your heat wave.

According to my conversion chart, 100 litres is equal to more than 26 gallons. My gosh! How do you get all that water to your plants?

Both hips have been trouble for over 20 years, & I spent 5 years in agony with the right one because of a mis-diagnosis. After that doctor left for another town, we got a new one who got it right.

After that replacement the surgeon thought it may help my left one settle a bit with taking some pressure didn't work that way, & went the opposite instead.

Comment by Plinius on July 8, 2018 at 1:15am

You had to revalidate the first hip and probably hurt the second hip in the process. Revalidating after the next operation should be more easy...

Thanks Ruth. My family dr saw the x-rays & told me it is now worse than the first hip. Just hard to believe how quickly it deteriorated since my first replacement 8 months ago.

Sorry to hear of your hip pain, Patricia. I look forward to your surgery to fix it.
