Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Okay, gang ... when is the last time you saw Seth Andrews do an animated video on his YouTube channel?  Seems like donkey's years ago, don't it?  Well, apparently Jeff Sessions and his "religious liberty task force" got Seth's nelly up enough that…Continue

worshipping narcissists (qualiasoup & theramintrees)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Ruth Anthony-Gardner Aug 4. 2 Replies

They're all around us: people who perceive the world as revolving around them and will go to considerable lengths to make it so: narcissists.  Such beings have been with humanity, I suspect, since humanity emerged from the gene pool.  Even worse,…Continue

If you spend any time around YouTube and have any history of looking at atheist material (or even theist material!), you will inevitably run into: "XX Questions Atheists Can't Answer."  These are occasionally followed by: "XX Questions Atheists…Continue

appropriating morality (TheraminTrees)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Joan Denoo May 1. 7 Replies

We've all heard the claim: "Human morality comes from god."  And we've all seen for ourselves what Yahweh's "morality" looks like, from condemnations of homosexuality and the treatment of women as chattel to inexplicable sanctions against the eating…Continue

Bible Belt Atheist (New York Times)

The following showed up in my YouTube feed this morning, and I decided to have a look.  Turns out, the New York Times has given us a reasonably even-handed look at a good friend of ours, being one Jerry DeWitt, former bible-thumper and now a pretty…Continue

That was very kind of the driver, Chris. I hope your new pc arrives soon. Sewing is a useful skill but not one I've ever learned. My fingers don't do what I want them too.

I don't know what the weather's like other places but Denmark is getting baked. A lot of trees are starting to shut down as if it was Autumn in order to survive. The long-range forecast is for even hotter weather that won't end until mid August. It's hard having to work outside cutting hedges in 30 degrees C!

We've both had whiplash, & it can come back any time for decades, & we need some physio when it does.....not fun.

Just now, my printer ran out of ink! I use it primarily for crossword puzzles. Evidently, they use quite a lot of ink. And it ain't cheap. Can't use your cartridges, Bertold. I have an HP.  Hope you get your computer soon, Chris.

Old into new. I got some used bedlinnen from someone who is decluttering. Not the size I needed, but I made three fitted sheets from it. They will serve me for five years at least.

What are you sewing?

Comment by Plinius on July 21, 2018 at 3:54am

Yes, it was very thoughtful of him, but a whiplash is something to be very careful about...

So I'm patiently waiting for pc number 4, going through a lot of retrieved messages etc. and making miles on the sewing machine...

Plinius, I just paid attention to your last sentence:

"In spite of his newly acquired whiplash, he arrived hours later to lend me a laptop."

How thoughtful of him! He undoubtedly knows how it feels to be without a computer.

Yikes, its just one thing after another for you!!! Have to be glad the driver wasn't hurt any worse though.

Comment by Joan Denoo on July 21, 2018 at 12:38am

I hope your computer arrives soon and working at full meter.

Comment by Plinius on July 21, 2018 at 12:28am

I'm still having computer trouble after ordering a new desktop on June 5th. First delivery was quick enough but the pc was dead. Second delivery was much slower because a vital part was missing from number 2. Delivery number 3 was due last Friday, but the computerman got a collision on the road; computers total-loss. In spite of his newly acquired whiplash he arrived hours later to lend me a laptop. To be continued....
