Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Trae Crowder isn't just about atheism.  He has a deep and abiding concern about what's going on with this planet's climate and the all-too-probable catastrophe we face from a fundamental change in weather patterns.  That said, Trae is thinking about…Continue

They're all around us: people who perceive the world as revolving around them and will go to considerable lengths to make it so: narcissists.  Such beings have been with humanity, I suspect, since humanity emerged from the gene pool.  Even worse,…Continue

Sounds nice! Succes, Randall!

How's the wildfire news, Patricia?

We're almost at the end of our home overhauling, and about time after four weeks. we've worked like movers, and both not built like movers...

Busy day Saturday. Our little community (pop 1600) is having its annual "Summers End Festival".

First thing, I'm participating in the 5k run. I'll probably be the only "over 65" entrant. (I'm 75.) I'm hoping I can run the full 3.1 miles without stopping.

Then there's a parade where two of my grandchildren are playing the high school's band. I'll be watching with 3 other small grandchildren. We'll go to the car show, have ice cream, do rides at the "carnival", etc.

I hope I survive the day!

We don't drive Ruth, so we have to rely on transport by buses if we get alerts or orders.

My facemask is military graded for smoke & filters the same as the hepa. I did my research after last year...…Our news also said a rating of minimum N95 was needed......

I've been worried about your proximity to the wildfires Patricia. Thanks for the update. I see your point about it being impractical to just drive to escape the smoke. But face masks are quite burdensome, especially for sleeping. And they don't really remove the fine particles which are most dangerous. A HEPA filter inside a closed bedroom would be more practical.

In order to be HEPA certified, air filters have to remove 99.97 percent of particles that are exactly 0.3 microns in diameter — a size that’s especially difficult to filter mechanically. That is also close to the size of wildfire smoke particles, which are mostly in the 0.4 to 0.7 micron range, according to the E.P.A. HEPA filters remove much larger and much smaller particles, as well.

Yes, we're still at home, fires aren't too close for the moment. The closest ones have been beaten down, but the smoke is really bad. It carries across to Manitoba, so no idea of where we'd go to get out of it. Prince George was so dark a couple of days ago that 10 am looked like midnight. We can't go too far from medical care & heading into the Northwest Territories or the Yukon is too far & no transport anyway.

Are you still at Williams Lake, Patricia? How about Rick?  How close are the flames to you?

Oh! my goodness! That is just awful!

Comment by Patricia on August 18, 2018 at 2:58pm

It just reeks, & we have no place within reason to get out of it......so face mask it is.

Comment by kathy: ky on August 18, 2018 at 1:39pm

That is way worse than I ever imagined.

Comment by Patricia on August 18, 2018 at 1:44am

No there isn't. This is awful!
