Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Saving Number 90 - From Seth Andrews (The Thinking Atheist)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Loren Miller on Thursday. 10 Replies

Seth says himself that the following is a departure from the usual fare his YouTube channel features.  Personally, I think it's a positive and constructive move, because it demonstrates that no, we are NOT just about atheism.  We're also very much…Continue

We've all heard about the Deep Field observations of the Hubble Space Telescope, how, almost on a whim, the device was aimed at what was thought to be an empty, unoccupied section of sky and a long time exposure was taken.  What they discovered was…Continue

Rick is on the table now, so haven't yet heard anything from my brother-in-law.

My shopping was done online.

I hope things go well for Rick, Patricia.

Chris, all my shopping is over and done with. Just the cards to write.

Are you all busy xmas-shopping?

Thinking of you and Rick, Patricia. I hope his anxiety calms down soon!

The neighbours are there for rides etc., but I don't have a housekeeper at the moment so am struggling with the housework myself. Chadd will be here for solstice, & he's asked me to make a list of chores for him to do while here.

Patricia, my thoughts remain with you and Rick as he goes through surgery and recovery. Happily, Rick's brother is with him. How about you? Do you have support now and will you have it when he returns for the recovery period?

I think Hang Discussions is the best place, & nobody has to read it if they don't choose to do so.

Patricia, I plan to document Dementia on Atheist Nexus; I am not sure where I should post it. Where do you and the rest of you think would be the most appropriate place to publish? My first thought is to write on "Hang with friends" however, I realize there are those who do not want to read such material. My Blog is a place to post it, but I would like to put it in a place where all Atheist Nexus members can participate if they want. In that case, would the Forum be the appropriate spot?

One thing I want to make clear, I am not hurting or suffering; it is those who witness change taking place in my personality that concern me. Laura & Larry with the entire family treats me with compassion, tenderness, love, and patience. I am content feeling safe and secure in their care.

Rick is in Victoria for his surgery tomorrow. His brother is with him so he's not alone.

Joan, that's a great idea. I look forward to reading anything you put online. Your ability with words is always a pleasure.
