Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Saving Number 90 - From Seth Andrews (The Thinking Atheist)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Loren Miller Jan 17. 10 Replies

Seth says himself that the following is a departure from the usual fare his YouTube channel features.  Personally, I think it's a positive and constructive move, because it demonstrates that no, we are NOT just about atheism.  We're also very much…Continue

We've all heard about the Deep Field observations of the Hubble Space Telescope, how, almost on a whim, the device was aimed at what was thought to be an empty, unoccupied section of sky and a long time exposure was taken.  What they discovered was…Continue

I'm glad.

I had a ruptured appendix myself, but the surgery was quick.

Yes, that was a few years back and it turned out ok.

Rick's procedure was supposed to be 3 hours & my brother-in-law said they took him in on time at 7 am. With my not being able to travel, you'd think the dr. or nurse could have called me to ease my mind. Being here while he's that far away has been awful.

Is your husband ok now, Bertold?

Comment by Bertold Brautigan on December 13, 2018 at 8:42pm

Patricia - so glad you got good news. My hubby once had a supposed three-hour appendicitis surgery that took seven hours while I sat in a chair. That kind of waiting is not fun.

Finally, good news at nearly 6 pm. Brother-in-law going over to hospital now.

Still no word.

I hope everything went/goes well for Rick!

Getting a little anxious, haven't heard from my brother-in-law yet & its nearing 1 pm.

I know the operation was supposed to be 3 hours with 2 incisions, but of course don't know if Rick got in on time. Some hospitals are notoriously late for appointment times. Whatever the case, this seems a long time from 7:30 am.

Pacemaker clinic tomorrow, & home Saturday if everything is good.

Comment by Plinius on December 13, 2018 at 1:37pm

I hope he's out of the stress and home soon!
