Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

A beautiful video, Joan! It makes me think of the enormously different lifestyle we have here, in the centre of town, without a family to work with. But I'm happy for the people who can live off the land..

Thanks Joan for the video. I'm going to share it with my daughter and SIL. They're struggling with making a go of the farm business. CSA has collapsed, restaurants aren't buying this time of year, and no farmers markets now. This all makes marriage stressful with the concerns and worries they have.

Added to that, Nate is seriously considering going into the hemp business as a cash crop. It's now legal to grow in Indiana. But, it's an expensive and risky proposition. I'm in no position to give advice, although I do support his decision to go in that direction. We'll see.

Joan, your video makes me think. If people are involved in doing things they love, are they more inclined to show love to each other? Perhaps when people earn their living by commuting to and from drudgery, the tension shows when they get home to their families. Just a thought, anyway.

How nice to hear that Patricia is on the mend. Thanks for passing on the message, Chris.

I live in a family that knows how to work as a team, they know how to solve problems and resolve conflict without violence. This family style saves so much time there is almost time to have some fun, like snowmobiling through the acreage, build forts, play soccer, use their imagination and creativity in ways that bring pleasure to all age groups. We range across four generations from 11-years old to 83. We don't have dairy or other farm animals but cats and dogs know how to behave and they keep wild critters away. This video of a dairy family reveals how it is done.

Oh, and Chris?

Hey, Bertold.  Would you believe I taught my daughter how to drive stick?  Would that make me counterrevolutionary or something? [chuckle!]

Message from Patricia's son; she came through the operation all right and can start to recover.

Comment by Bertold Brautigan on February 26, 2019 at 2:22pm

Chris - happy b-day!

Patricia - I hope your recovery is coming along as it should.

Patricia, I imagine you sleep off anesthesia and experience life through a fog. I just want you and Rick to know I am thinking of you and hope for the very best outcome.
