Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Evangelicals Breaking Up with Jesus (Betty Bowers)

Has evangelical Christianity lost sight of Christ?  Seems to me that there are a whole lot of evangelical Christians who are presuming to represent Jesus by not representing him or misrepresenting him or – let's be honest here – talking out of their…Continue

So, this morning, I was at my local coffee shop as I am most weekdays between bus runs. I do the editing on my husband's books so I had my laptop with me. My wallpaper is a picture I found online sometime back of a double helix with the word atheist…Continue

Men who challenge men to stop violence

Many men join in the effort to reduce violence against women and children and other men. He speaks of the need to place responsibility on men instead of focusing on women to stop violence. He offers a breath of fresh air, as do so many of the men on…Continue

What are their options? The aquifer that provided a necessary element for successful crops for the past 100 years is predicted to dry up in 20 years. Four generations of farmers in one family may probably not be able to last for the fifth…Continue

The following showed up this morning in my YouTube daily feed, and I have to say, it just charmed the socks off of me.  This is what animation really can do in the hands of a creative and skilled team.  Really, it's what animation has done for darn…Continue

Ian, you seem to have the most interesting,  relaxing, and fun holidays! Any photos of your dapper-self?

Good to see you back Ian.

That is the link between religion and unhappiness, Tom.

Hi Ian! Sounds like a good holiday!

"[T]hat they must love their god more than their family."

That's much like what abusive husbands require of their wives.

Hello all. Home again after a week in Paris. Very nice it was too. Saw the main sights (Pompidou, Basillika St Denis, Versailles, Louvre), strolled the narrow streets of Marais and left bank, ate exotic things (snails, cow tripe) and generally had a good time. The weather was perfect Spring so who could ask for more?

Ruth, I am sorry for the loss of your brother. Did you ever discuss his service in the armed forces and his becoming a form of religious fundamentalist?

Comment by Patricia on May 18, 2019 at 11:50pm

And that attitude stinks.

And the fundies live by the rule that they must love their god more than their family... (sigh)

Comment by Ruth Anthony-Gardner on May 18, 2019 at 10:07pm

My brother Tom Jr became some version of fundamentalist while serving in the armed forces. <sigh> He's dead now.
