Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Has evangelical Christianity lost sight of Christ?  Seems to me that there are a whole lot of evangelical Christians who are presuming to represent Jesus by not representing him or misrepresenting him or – let's be honest here – talking out of their…Continue

So, this morning, I was at my local coffee shop as I am most weekdays between bus runs. I do the editing on my husband's books so I had my laptop with me. My wallpaper is a picture I found online sometime back of a double helix with the word atheist…Continue

Men who challenge men to stop violence

Started by Joan Denoo. Last reply by Grinning Cat May 24. 21 Replies

Many men join in the effort to reduce violence against women and children and other men. He speaks of the need to place responsibility on men instead of focusing on women to stop violence. He offers a breath of fresh air, as do so many of the men on…Continue

What are their options? The aquifer that provided a necessary element for successful crops for the past 100 years is predicted to dry up in 20 years. Four generations of farmers in one family may probably not be able to last for the fifth…Continue

The following showed up this morning in my YouTube daily feed, and I have to say, it just charmed the socks off of me.  This is what animation really can do in the hands of a creative and skilled team.  Really, it's what animation has done for darn…Continue

'McCafé' in Paris. The cake selection is superb.

Travel always causes delays... We have a high speed train from Amsterdam to Paris, but the speed is often far too low.

"Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, known informally as Schiphol Airport. It is the main international airport of the Netherlands. The airport also serves as a European hub for Jet Airways and as a base for EasyJet, LEVEL, and Vueling."

By plane, Chris via Amsterdam, Schipol which caused delays. They're trying out a new system there which doesn't work yet.

Glad you had a marvelous time, Ian. I'm thinking France on my next overseas trip. Provence, mainly, but perhaps a stop in Paris.

How did you travel - TGV or plane?

With EU elections due this month, France is plastered with posters. There's even a 'Frexit' alliance standing. Only one 'Ian' standing though.

Perhaps I'm lucky that religion was never a big issue in my family. It tends not to be in England.

Sounds wonderful, Ian. Vacation envy here.

I didn't discuss my brother's religious fundamentalism, excepting with my mother. Didn't need to. <sigh> Kinda sad, but you can't control what other adults believe.

Tom, you write correctly; religion seems to equate god with maleness bringing on the unhappiness that Plinius links.
