Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

bending truth, or "We Can All Be Manipulated" (TheraminTrees)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Grinning Cat Jul 30. 42 Replies

The following is one of TheraminTrees' most thorough-going pieces, wherein he looks at the process and techniques whereby a "religious" organization (which will sound VERY familiar to most of us, once introductions are made!) takes a person who…Continue

Evangelicals Breaking Up with Jesus (Betty Bowers)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Grinning Cat May 28. 10 Replies

Has evangelical Christianity lost sight of Christ?  Seems to me that there are a whole lot of evangelical Christians who are presuming to represent Jesus by not representing him or misrepresenting him or – let's be honest here – talking out of their…Continue

Love that satire, GC.

Joan, did your great-grandson reclaim his helmet? :)

After Trump's offer to buy Greenland was rebuffed, the government of Denmark and people of Greenland swiftly decided on a worthier new owner. "Greenland Is Sold To Barack Obama For $1":

”President Trump pushed back a meeting with Denmark because we refuse even to consider selling Greenland to the United States,” stated Denmark’s Prime Minister Andrew Kanard. “We thought the appropriate response was to sell Greenland to President Obama for one dollar.”...

Greenlanders are overwhelmingly happy with their new landlord. 89% voted for the sale. Of course, the specifics of the deal don’t change the status quo too much. Barack Obama is the honorary owner of Greenland. The island still has home rule. Denmark remains officially in charge.

However, there is one significant change. Every August 21st from now on will be Barack Obama Day in Greenland and Denmark. The new holiday will include all-night parties and a special burning of Donald Trump in effigy.

Second attempt. Joan, napping after a day in the garden. Great-grandson lost his helmet and I think I found it.

Randy, happy to learn you completed your trip to Montana. That is a long drive over the prairie part of the country. Perhaps, one day, you will be able to go on to explore the Rockies.

Have you seen the National Parks of Arizona:  Grand Canyon, Vermillion Cliffs, Montezuma's Castle, Meteor Crater, Canyon de Chelly, Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park, Petrified Forest, and Saguaro National Park?

And have you seen the National Parks of Utah: Arches, Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, and Zion?

Oh! to be young again and going to these sites.

This is me after a day in the garden. I am wearing my great-grandsons' helmet because he continues to lose it and I thought if I put it on he might retrieve and wear it. Michelle caught me taking a nap.

Sorry, I can't figure out how to rotate this photo.

We can also buy the USA and give it a decent management.....

Welcome back, Randall.  It's always good to be wiser about history.

Hey, I want Trump to go to prison too, but isn’t buying Greenland an improvement over sending the military to steal it?

Comment by Patricia on August 21, 2019 at 1:21pm

Good to see you back, Randy. Sounds like a great time.

He can't buy Greenland, so he'll just go back to his usual childish spoiled rotten pouting.....such a *surprise*.

The demonstrations were organised and the 'baby blimp' booked, Chris. But Greenland was not for sale so the whole thing's off. I would have turned out to 'boo' the orange bufoon.

Wow, didn't even know the Hutterites were still a thing after so many years.  The ONLY reason why I know about them is courtesy of an episode of Kung Fu with David Carradine, from years ago.  A notable feature of that episode was the concept of "taking away the stick," as opposed to actively engaging an enemy or being passive, as the "Hoots" would insist.
